Shouldn't be going on the tube during rush hour anyway tbh given the risk of infection.

Didn't it used to be after 9.30am for OAPs? On the buses I remember Robbie Vincent on LBC used to refer to them as the "Twirlies" ("Am I too early?")

Indeed it did and not after 16.00 during the rush hour either.
No need for the olds to be using it for gadding about when workers are travelling.

It's nothing to do with a dislike of old people and everything due to travel demand during peak times. Having people travelling for free during these times and potentially resulting in some paying customers not being able to board trains or even get a seat isn't right if you think about it.

maybe then have some medical exemption where the person in questions shows a member of staff their appointment card and they can then board the service.

That's not the fault of the oldies. It's down to a lack of adequate infrastructure or looked at another way an overheated London economy which enjoys an inappropriate share of the country's resources which should be more equally shared with the rest of the country to alleviate the pressure on the capital.

You're right that it's not the fault of the oldies. But if they are going to get free travel because they are old then this should at least be restricted to outside of the windows when the most paying customers are using the system.

Neither it seems is my point about inadequate infrastructure being the issue. Instead you want to punish our senior citizens for it. Strange.

No one is saying the old can't travel, they can, but it just won't be free.

But if there are retrictions on the times when they can travel then that is treating them as second class citizens and shows no respect to our senior citizens.

The Freedom Pass is obviously now a misnomer and should be called "The Old Peoples Second Class Citizen Restricted Freedom Pass"

Travel is important as the prophet says:

"The World is a book and those who do not travel read only a page"
