Well you can watch England's finest hour ( actually 2 hours ) on Channel 4 at 13.30. If you are an oldie like me you can relive England's summit of athletic success. If you are yoof- this is a once in a lifetime chance to see a once in a lifetime Football match. The 1966 match that firmly put the Krauts in the place. England! England England!!!!
Don't miss out, it's in glorious black and white. With some colour additions. Watch it to the end, it's one of the few occasions when Her Majesty is positively beaming.

Is this the game where the cheating officials awarded a goal to the home team when the whole ball was not over the line and the home team fixed the ties to ensure they played all their games at home?
And where the fans invaded the pitch like it was D day to put the Jerries off
If so, I'm not interested.

Wonder if that had anything to do with the fact that by 1966, she'd been tax-dodging for 15 years, without getting banged up?
I would have thought she wanted to Germany to win - given the German ancestry within the 'Royal bloodlines'?
Lest we forget that a few decades earlier, she was herself giving a Nazi salute:

Will record and watch. Strangely, apart from the goals I know little about England’s biggest football achievement so will be interesting to watch.

Scotland has shorter winter days and longer summer days than the rest of the UK, because it is further north. In north Scotland there are four more hours of daylight in midsummer than in London.

And not forgetting that after thrashing them at Wembley in 1967 we were the World Champions for a bit too.

It's difficult to argue non-left people claiming 'lefties' are cranks when people start calling a child doing a salute that they do not understand a Nazi.

It's difficult to argue that you know what she was thinking.
Fascism was rife within the British Aristocracy in the 30s and probably still is.

True, but at the moment it's about 8 degrees and I think my grapes may indeed be a little sour this year. Brrrrr!

Yeah you are right there. BUT for most of that 4 hours it is p-ssing rain. Another reason why you are all so truculent.

How did England get on in that World Cup?
Scotland were the stars of that cup, laughing stock of the world and long may it remain
