Are you suggesting he's someone who needs his face covering?

Covid or not.

It might be a good idea for after lockdown ends as well. For me the main issue with public transport is not the price and availability of it but people that use it smell.

Early on around late February, I purchased some face masks, 2 boxes of clear powdered vinyl gloves and 2 face visors, to be used by myself and my lady friend. So since the start of March, been wearing them whenever I have gone out shopping etc, which has been around once every two to three weeks. Apparently the face masks main practical use is that IF you have the virus, it helps to prevent the infected droplets from spreading so far if you cough or sneeze. Amazed me how many people in the media and responsible positions were pictured shaking hands with other people, well after the warnings had been stated that the infection could be carried by it being on hands. Boris Johnson, Prince Charles, President Trump to name just a few people in high positions who made a point of being seen doing the hand shaking, not setting a good example to the general public. As to how this face mask wearing public transport rule can be enforced, we shall see. Seems to me from when I have been out, that many in the UK, have taken little to no notice of any of the social distancing, wearing masks and certainly very rare to see anyone wearing gloves, the many who have taken little to no notice of the warnings about this virus, has not helped in the battle in trying to keep down the infection rate.

Just use initiative and most of this ppe stuff is easy to find for sale on the internet ( ebay for just one place ) for reasonable prices.

Whilst I will not be travelling on trains or tubes, I would refuse to wear one.

A face mask was invented to protect the patient from infection from the surgeon. It was not for the surgeon to protect himself, it was to stop drool or spital or any kind of fluid from the doctor entering the open wound.

The wearing of a face mask will by the very nature of what it does, restrict the amount of oxygen your body would be able to take in. As your body realises that the oxygen level has reduced it will then release adrenaline and serotonin. In turn the heart will quicken to keep up with what's going on. Now your putting your body under stress without even realising it, and one of the main things this virus loves is stress.

So for me I won't be wearing one.

You do realise that what you describe could happen
Would be valid if it was worn continuously for say a week
In a locked room with closed windows. .

For an hour or so its not going to harm a healthy fit human being .
It stops super spreaders spreading .

Yes, but now try and engage every single brain cell and think what that means if everyone in an enclosed space wore one.

Occasionally I wish that the government would have spent more time explaining why people should do things rather than treating us liken5 year olds and giving a list of rules to follow, then I remember how f*cking stupid so many people are.

I am 73 (just ! ) and since around March time have been wearing a good quality face mask, gloves and face visor when going out doing supermarket shopping for myself and lady ( once every two weeks at the start, now around once a week ) no breathing difficulties, racing heart or stress noticed, perhaps that applies only to me ? Does it affect others like you say, dont know. In my own mind though, would have thought that IF you have the virus, then as the doctors and scientists seem to think, must help in restricting the distance the infected droplets can travel if you sneeze or cough, so if so, then by wearing a mask when going out will help to limit infecting others if a person DOES have this virus. I do not enjoy wearing all this ppe but kind of used to doing so after working in a pharma company in often dangerous situations where dangerous chemicals were present. Some of the stuff we sometimes had to wear was akin to wearing a space suit !
