When I look at the US police and justice system, it makes ours look so good, which has to be wrong. No amount of justification can make what the police did right. Justice needs to be seen to be done and sacking them is not justice.

I don't know enough about the racial/political situation there to comment on the rioting, but its very sad to see.

If you look at the TV footage the great majority of the protesters are waving placards they are not looting. As for Trump his tweet has been blocked for inciting violence, round two to Twitter.

Haven't watched the video as the still looked bad enough.

No excuse for looting or arson.

Twitter not doing itself any favours, it's a lawless playground like most of the internet. They put very little effort into moderating, so why over moderate one man?

I feel so dismayed that a person any person let alone a policeman could act like a thug from hell
Things do seem to be getting worse but with the widespread ownership of mobile phones with cameras all we are seeing is the sheer brutality of racist America which has always been there.

The officer who murdered Floyd is a serial killer of unarmed black men and has an atrocious disciplinary record.

As for the riots, it's just the rational response to a gross injustice.

Burn Hollywood, burn.

I'd even go as far as saying the copper enjoyed it.

His knee was still on his neck when medics were checking for a pulse...

Still as relevant today, 50 odd years on...

“And I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it America has failed to hear? ... It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice and humanity.”

Good point.

Maybe everyone could just keep bending down on one knee in protest cos that seems to be working.

Always amazes how some people can really easily judge people and/or a situation by completely taking the actions out of the context of where the situation is happen. Applying rational, cold thought to a situation of extreme emotion, anger, inequality, poverty, etc.... It's interesting.

The police officer needs prosecuting so the evidence can be tested in full. If guilty then a custodial sentence is a given.

Why would police act this way. Maybe it’s because on average 100 officers a year are murdered on the streets of America whilst they are doing their job protecting people. But hey, they are cops so that’s OK then.

I believe George Floyd's family would angrily dispute that the police were protecting him.

Covered that point Max. Said he should be prosecuted. I’m sure his family would agree.
