Thinking about it, I can imagine there's not many old duffers on here who have a scooby about this insult, or the other current ones the kidz use like Takashi 6ix9ine for a grass.

Re: Central Park New York
The woman clearly has problem and seems to use the fact that the man is 'african-american' as some sort of heightened threat level. Also lets her panic get in the way of looking after her dog.
But the video is a great example of social media pilling onto someone without knowing the details. You only see her reaction, you don't know what the bloke did or said, you don't even have evidence that he is bird watching. The woman seems very distressed but since the video was posted, she's apparently lost her job, and lost her dog. Can imagine she's feeling pretty bad right now whilst social media judges her guilty and ruins her life.
Does make me laugh that she still says 'excuse me' when making him wait whilst she calls the cops on him. 'Merica eh?

Good of you to leap to her defence though, despite the BBC story giving a fuller picture of what went on, what was said, etc. Including her "sincere and humble apology".

Go to any park and you will find an entitled dog owner with their pooch off the lead. They are usually quick to control their dog, apologize or tell you their dog is good. But I've also seen children chased and jumped up at and also blame anyone but themselves.

To be fair, I get where you're coming from. Personally, I'm finding these Twitter pile-on's a bit nauseating.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 4:17 pm The woman clearly has problem and seems to use the fact that the man is 'african-american' as some sort of heightened threat level. No excuse for the lady in question and what her actions could've led to if her motivation is straight up and down racism but perhaps there's other reasons unconnected to the bird-watcher such as stress or mental illness that could explain why she's reacted in that way?
Whatever the reasons, twitter isn't the place to judge and sentence someone.

Re: Central Park New York
I'm all for a bit of understanding and not jumping to conclusions but she approaches him, fairly calmly tells him what she's doing and then puts on the distress for the police. I'd hope she didn't intend for it to actually happen but the threat was that they'd turn up and shoot him, and the risk was that he, or just as likely, some other poor sod 'matching the description' could get killed.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 4:17 pm The woman clearly has problem and seems to use the fact that the man is 'african-american' as some sort of heightened threat level. I agree in general about social media pile ons, particularly where they start with someone making a private but distasteful joke to what they thought was a small group and then it gets shared all over the Internet but it's hard to have too much sympathy here.

I a White woman ( Karen) am going to call the Police & tell them an African American Man is attacking me .
Fortunately it seems New York Cops are less trigger happy that many other American law enforcemnt areas.

Agree. It isn’t the main issue, granted. But imagine if someone was repeatedly filming a female as she walked through Hainault Park. How would she feel?Millennial Snowflake wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 12:04 pmHe’s in a public place so can film as he pleases. Re: Central Park New York
f*** her. She was deliberately calling on his ethnicity and saying he was threatening her life in the hope that the plod would arrive with all guns blazing. Didn’t deserve to lose her job? Maybe her employers just didn’t fancy having a overtly racist liar on their books.
