Next we have perennial favourite, Jacob Rees-Mogg.

Image

He's currently working behind the scenes to frustrate the long awaited Leasehold & Freehold Reform Bill. I have skin in this game as I've worked with the Law Commission and DLUHC team that has drafted the Bill, which aims to nudge property ownership rights just a tad in the direction of being more fair to ordinary people. This should have happened in 2002, but was threatened with being blocked at the time by the House of Lords by members whose main declared income was through existing land management contracts.

But good 'ol Jacob is working tirelessly for his corporate landlord backers (many of who are registered in the Cayman Islands behind nominee directorships). He's threatening a potential HoL rebellion to prevent the current drafting from passing through, and arguing that it would be a breach of the human rights of those poor souls in the Cayman Islands. The implication being that the UK government will be tied up in litigation for years to prevent commencement of any Act.

But, the best bit is his list of experts, which includes - wait for it - Matt Le Tissier :D

In the least astounding piece of news of all time, Lee Anderson has defected to Reform.

I'm at a loss to see what the backers of Reform hope to achieve apart from emptier bank balances.

The Tory party has moved more to the right over the last 7 or 8 years, than it has ever been before, but it seems for an awful lot of people it's still not right wing enough, hence the migration to Reform UK .
Is this country a racist country, or am I reading it wrong?

There seems to be a constant attack on Muslims on social media, and I just can't see why.
Muslims have never prevented me doing anything I wanted, ever.
What's going on out there?

I think the long-term aim is to take over the Conservatives and put Farage in charge,.. the Tory membership would lap it up and the country might be daft enough to go for it at the election after the next one, they will then be repaid many times over.

It’s to keep the tories moving ever further right. Money well spent for those who are so inclined.

A major Tory donor has apologised after reportedly saying Diane Abbott made him "want to hate all black women" and that she "should be shot".

Frank Hester made the remarks about the then-shadow home secretary during a meeting in 2019, The Guardian reports.

Credit to the tories for returning the £10m they received from this despicable racist and sexist donor.

Quite right. Now hopefully a line can be drawn under this whole inappropriate episode and everybody move on.

He’s obviously going to have to return whatever gongs he’s been given, and his companies multi million pound contracts will all be cancelled too. But I accept these won’t happen instantly, like the returning of the £10,000,000.

Not iffy at all that the man who donates more than anyone else to the Tory party runs a company that benefits from millions in public sector contracts and made a financial killing during COVID.

Frank Hester isn't racist. According to his mate, Lord Marland, "he does a lot of business in Jamaica, in Malaysia, Bangladesh and places like that so he's not a racist".

I'd say more thick than racist.

Social media is pretty batshit and not a reflection of peoples actual views. Try talking to some real people, away from a computer.

I've not much time for crazy religious cults and the integration of such things into the uk is very poor. People see their communities change and dont like it. They also dont like terrorism and seemingly unsolvable problems like small boats crossing the channel etc. (not saying these things are exclusively muslim problems)

New gas power stations to be built, with private investment cash.

If private investments are interested then there's money to be made, so why cant we just do the same thing with public money?
