Beautiful places

Was just watching a film set in Oz, where they were commenting on how beautiful a place it was. It obviously is, despite the wildlife all trying to kill you (it's not just the Aussies either, there's snakes 'n' spiders 'n' stuff).

Anyway, I digress. What are your 'most beautiful places' that are close to home.

For me it would be Epping Forest, where I've spent many a happy hour walking and biking. So peaceful, even so close to London.

I used to cycle commute down Coppermill Lane and through Walthamstow marshes. Early morning it was a stunning place, especially in spring.

Yorkshire Dales are beautiful. My favourite part is Leyburn/Aysgarth area. Ive been there for a day. took me 3hrs 50 mins...I stayed till 6pm, and went home arriving about 9.45.
Ive lived in Yorkshire from time to time, and from there it was an hours drive.
Another beautiful place is Scarborough North Bay, around the Blenheim Drive/Queens Parade area. Very peaceful, I love it there
I realise they're not on my doorstep, but a lot nearer than Australia

Larger place = Isle of Mull.

Area around Llanthony priory. It’s beautiful and one of the last truly remote places in England. I love Padstow. I know, I know. I go in November though so not too busy and still get an ice cream!

In the before time, when the people had shorter hair, I used to be able to go on the big birdy to Perpignan. It only took 90 minutes and could cost as little as 20 Euros.

We'd then take our bikes on the train down to Collioure or Port-Vendres (only about 6 Euros), and cycle along the lanes towards the Spanish boarder. All along the hills overlooking the Mediterranean were vineyards and places you could stop for lunch and a glass or two of wine.

While sat out, taking in the views and the sun, we were surrounded by wildlife. Wild boars, donkeys, goats, all different types of birds. The food and booze were amazing yet cheap. It was just perfect.

It was glorious. In the before time. Before the f*cking virus ruined everything. Now, if we're lucky, we may get to spend a fiver on a greasy burger from a van and stare at Southend mud.

Agree about Symonds Yat and the Black Mountains nearby. Anywhere in the Ground overlooking the O's pitch is pretty difficult to beat imho.

For wildness and remoteness the walk from Bradwell to Burnham on Crouch in Essex is an eye opener. It’s supposed to be the remote place in England, certainly the south east.

Otherwise, Lynton and Lynmouth in North Devon is delightful.

Cacela Velha, in the Portuguese part of the Algrave towards the Spanish border takes some beating.

Love that place. The Hive is a great place to eat/drink by the sea and it's great for walking.

Indeed, that part of the coast along to Bridport is beautiful.

When I lived in London it was always a real treat to get back to Loch Awe for a fishing trip. Somewhere I have worshipped since the early eighties.

No noise except the water, land and air.

I still go there at least once a year.

Spoilt for choice really with beautiful bushland and beaches within a few miles of my house.
