What varieties do you go for?
Bananas: I try to buy those from the carribean, not south American.
Apples: Pink Lady have the crispest and nicest taste
Clementines- Mandarins.
Potatoes- I try to buy the appropriate variety for use- waxy red skins potatoes for mash, Yellowy flesh jackets. Not sure who wins the middleground battle of Maris Piper vs King Edward
Tinned tomatoes- I've heard that peeled plum tomatoes are better quality than chopped. So even if you need chopped, buy peeled plum.

Pink Lady's all the way. I can bear a gala but anything else is poor.

Cirio is my preference. Tastier Toms and thicker juice rather than the watery slop in cheap brands. Always plums rather than chopped too.

On warmer days I like ploughmans for lunch.
For me a fresh Tesco bloomer is hard to beat,
Lurpak slightly salted butter.
Mature Cheddar (Sainsbury's own brand is fine)
Haywards tangy pickled onions and piccalilli,
Branston original pickle
Granny Smith apple.
Celery and cherry tomatoes from Sainsbury's
Easy to get and taste good.

Pizza - Papa John's for takeaway or M&S for home cooked (the ones in the rectangular box)

With the disruption in my spud supply chain direct from Ballinacourty (usually Kerrs pink or Golden Wonder) I've had to make do with Maris Pipers, they are a poor alternative but the only supermarket potato I'd bother putting in a pan.

I will try a Jazz then as it surely has to be cheaper than the Pink Lady.

Not sure re price. Knowing the mrs who does the shopping I can’t imagine they are the cheapest ones.

Mumm Champagne. Isabella's Islay Whisky, ROYAL OSCIETRA CAVIAR, I tend to go for Black Truffles. Bon appetit tout le monde.

I always buy a brand name article from the supermarket as I think they taste better. The one exception to this, for me, is
Heinz Baked Beans with reduced sugar. Uggh! absolutely disgusting.

Potatoes:
Absolutely love Jersey Royals. I remember when I worked at Danton's greengrocers in George Lane, it was a big "thing" when the first bag of Royals arrived (and they only got one 25lb bag), we used to have a queue of people wanting to buy some. Nowadays you get them anywhere - as much as you want. Lovely tasty new potatoes - although Ayreshire's are a very close second.
For mash I tend to prefer roosters. For a general purpose spud, I like Maris Pipers - great for roasts, saute, and chips - but they do tend to deteriorate around the turn of the year, so sometimes we have to get roosters for Xmas dinners, depending on when the Maris' go wrong.
Crisps: Seabrooks - best of all crisp varieties
Apples: Braeburn are a favourite, although I also like good old fashioned Cox's. Always try to buy British.
Pears : I like Williams, but Mrs Spike insists we buy conference. We can't buy both because, as Eddie Izzard noted - "Pears piss me off because they're ripe for about 5 minutes before they go off" - so we only get one bag at a time.

I avoid cheap meat as much as possible
For the animal welfare thing and because of the shrinkage during cooking

Citurs- Clems or mandarins, cant be arsed with the mess of a proper orange
