Summer hols 2020

Post by Long slender neck »

Anyone still planning on going?

Had a holiday scheduled for this month which isn't going ahead. Can't imagine going anywhere except possibly some camping.

No idea. Have flights and 1/3rd of villa paid for in August. Deadline for paying the remainder is 20 June. If there's no confirmation either way by then I have to decide between not paying the balance (and waving goodbye to a grand) or paying it off and hoping I can claw back through insurance/cc if still unable to go.

Had a couple of other trips booked, but these have been cancelled and got my money back. More frustrated that I'm unable to get to France at the moment. Until other countries relax their boarder controls it wont matter much what we do.

Had 3 weeks booked in a villa in Menorca in June. Jet 2 cancelled our flights a few weeks ago. The villa company have been great and we've had a full refund. Jet 2 , like most airlines are not so helpful. I expect a battle to get our cash back . I obviously have sympathy with airlines at this time as I know some could go bust. I just want my cash back before that happens.

The Norwegians might not think that's a great idea at the moment but I'm sure Norway is a beautiful country full of natural resources and at least you have that Pension Fund to assist during these times.

Lucky you! I'm still waiting for mine (I'm assured its in process) from my late March Venice flights. I got my Easyjet money quicker as I was due to be in Valencia next weekend. Am due on Vegas next month and can't see that happening - but the Virgin flight is not cancelled yet. Have to wait for that before trying for my money back from 3 separate Nevada hotels.

Cruise cancelled and can’t get my money back. They have given me cruise credits for any other cruise before 2021. Didnt want to go in the first place. I couldn't think of anything worse than spending 10 days with like minded people/people like me and now have to go with a risk of a watery grave.

Are you getting a refund from P&O or FCC ?

Our P&O cruise to Med (20/6) was cancelled. We've opted for a full refund cos I can't see a future cruise credit (even at 125% of value) being usable for next year either. They're taking 60 days to process refunds, but I'm reasonably confident it'll arrive. Otherwise it's on Amex so I'll get it from them. I know there are others much more impacted by this f*cker, but I'm still miserable about the holiday. It's not having something to look forward to on a particular date that I miss - having little targets like that to look forward to for is what keeps me going.

My holiday is in the back garden with the music on and I'm just telling myself that I'm in Portugal.

Why can't you get the money back ? If they've cancelled the holiday then surely you've got the right to a refund, if you don't want a credit. Who is it with and how did you book - direct or through an agent? I'd imagine you'd have to wait but don't think they have any right to refuse a refund.

Waiting on a refund for a cancelled March week in Paphos, possibly camping somewhere Devony/Cornwally once the site gates open, hopefully by August but who really knows.

Hopefully able to start our regular trips (3 or so a year) to Lanzarote by December, but again, who really knows.

I like the way people are glibly expecting a holiday this year. Unless someone produces a miracle cure for Covid 19 or a vaccine. Forget it! Just rejoice in the fact you are alive.

Superb choice!

Camping is the best type of holiday in our opinion. The days of all-inclusives; or stuck in one resort for up to a fortnight, have long since passed.

For anyone who hasn't tried camping before, what better time than 2020?

Let's just hope that if this madness ends before the Summer, people can get away for a genuine break. Even if that means the UK, the plus side would be that money is spent within our economy, to hopefully give it a much-needed boost.

The refund should come through 118, the booking agent paid via credit card, last 6 years been cruise booking through them, this was only time sail from Southampton all others fly/cruise, expect end up in the west country, or fill pool up new garden furniture and laze about in essex

Don't see how you can make new plans right now. Who knows how long this will drag on for, and what phase different levels of travel restrictions will be lifted?

But I can assure you all that carry-on-camping (or cruising) will NOT be high on my bucket list.

I got a full refund from Jet2 and Abnb accommodation a week before a planned trip to Dubrovnik in the first week of April. We have a two week trip to France in August where the deposit has to be paid by July 7th. We will decide nearer the time but can reschedule for next year which would allow us to delay paying the balance to then. Would just need to check out Eurotunnel options.

My plans to do the coast to coast walk with my old college mates in July have been put back to next year. The lock down has been good preparation though as I walk miles every day (in a loop now extended to 5km from home) and drink every night.

Like an idiot I cancelled a week before the cruise company cancelled the cruise. It was with Royal Caribbean.

Was meant to be going to Berlin to see Pearl Jam in June. That has been put back to next year. Managed to get refunds on flights and accommodation though.
Had to ring BA has they had 'conveniently' rebooked our flights for later in the year.
