Because of family illness issues (nothing to do with Covid - 19) I am going to have to run this event in its entirety today. Because of this, and with my sincere apologies, I will be starting the Heats shortly and aim to conclude the event this afternoon. I know this will be tiring for the competitors but needs must I'm afraid.

The Opening Ceremony has just taken place. A vintage London Transport 69 has just driven past on its route to Chingford Mount. Loudspeakers on the lower deck played the full version of Funky Lol Ross' hit(s) as 2 former members of the Cheery O’s waved the Olympic and Leyton Orient Flags. Downbeat - yes, but you try putting something spectacular on when Kum Vision, Jelks’ and the Kwun Wa are no longer in operation to offer sponsorship. Our Heat 1 lineup is:

Lane 5 Orient_Man_And_Boy

Excitement mounts as we near the start of the first heat. Much fancied (not sure by who) BIGRON and Celtient feature together with an unhopeful ElliotNes. We have a strange array of sports wear, Celtient in full Braveheart rig, i8uButler in his full London Transport Inspectors Uniform and Slacker looking ambivalent but composed. Don’t dismiss any of the other competitiors, this and every other Heat will go to the wire. Our much admired and cheeky chappie starter Chris Kamara holds his gun a Loft and….bang! We’re off...all away cleanly, no false starts.

We are already a third of the way into the race and it is looking pretty even. Celtient leads followed closely by ElliotNes with i8uButler and Slacker also featuring. No signs yet of any foul play in this Heat so far. Long way to go yet though.

Two thirds of the way down the track now and our only real spectator is a disinterested dog. However the BT Sport live stream seems to be well supported if not a tad expensive. With less than a few Davids to go (Strides) BIGRON is on a charge and Slacker is fading. Poor showing from Thor so far with OMAB and Story of O both hanging on in there.

And we're over the finishing line. A quick roll to ensure that we have no drugs cheats and the results will be with us...........

Drugs test complete, all of these competitors are clean. The results after a storming finish from O's Hardest Boarder are~:

Well done to the first 4 who qualify for the Semi Finals (lane position and in which Semi they will find themselves in) will be drawn once all the results are in. Slacker and Story of O await their fate as a potential fastest loser. Kamara is re-loading as the competitors for Heat 2 are called from their socially distanced positions overlooking the old marshalling yards.

An interesting battle within this race between Constanza and tuffers#1 who will be trying to out talk each other before, during and after the race. Barmbrack and Guiness to the winner of that dust up. Also fancied heavily in this heat are Apple Wumble who has a confident air, Disoriented (good luck fella) and Beradogs.

Bang! We’re off..Feck me I’ve got a double 3 and have therefore false started, hoist by my own petard. Now that wasn’t planned, a mountain to climb to get back into this…...everyone else away cleanly.

A third of the way into Heat 2 and again it is looking pretty even apart from yours truly. Apple Wumble looking fluid, Beradogs and Disoriented also featuring. No signs yet of any foul play in this Heat either. That Irish Reel running style in Lanes 3 and 4 offers some welcome change from the heads down determination of most.

Some real pace shown by some and a lack of fitness from others as we enter the final third. ComeOnYouOs and Griffin struggling, Disoriented has had a difficult last section.

And Heat 2 concludes with all competitors now over the line, Drugs Test rolls are about to start............

Beradogs split the Oirish just before the line and Disoriented was just pipped by COYOs at the last.

Kamara looks to have changed from the Starters Pistol to a Sniper Rifle as the competitors for Heat 3 are told to get off their bloody phones..

Again some much fancied runners in this final heat. All eyes on Max who is carrying a large Claymore and StillSpike whose underarm dobbers got me out when well poised in the Cricket earlier this week. Head Boardin' honcho PW features, don't any of you dare step over your or any other line. Kamara takes aim and bang! we're off in the final Heat.

No false starts and we are a third of the way into Heat 3. Probably our most menacing lineup but none of them a match from our man with the parking ticket machine. ConfibulatoryFred and o-no early leaders. What's this? Max is trailing in 8th, can this be?

The final third beckons with o-no looking secure for a place in the Semi Final. Max is on a charge, Chesthunt O and PW struggling.
