Things done for the first time because of the corona virus

Post by VeganO »

This was really brought home to me yesterday.
My aunt died on Sunday and as usually happens in Eire, the funeral took place very quickly. It happened yesterday with very few relatives in attendance. The service was live streamed & so I was able to see it, it was a strange experience.
In normal circumstances I would have organized a trip at the last minute to get to the funeral.
I felt very sorry for 3 of my Aunt's children who live outside Eire & could not go to the funeral. I would have found this very painful. However they did say that it gave them some comfort to be able to see the funeral.
This is no doubt one of many things that we may do for the first time because of the pandemic. Clearly all of those who are able to go out will have queued outside supermarkets.
I wondered what other experiences people had had.

Brother in law collapsed and died yesterday morning, non-corona related; suspect the funeral will be just my sister and my niece.

So first family funeral missed.

Difficult times on many levels.

Gave my brother a kiss as I may not be able to see him again. He was given 3 months to live yesterday.

Life can be hard at the best of times, things are amplified 10x at the moment. To those on this thread who have lost loved ones my sincere condolences, EliotNes, I really hope we are released from this lockdown so you can be with your brother again soon.
