My abiding memory of Euro 96 was being locked in pub in Enfield town centre while a near riot was going on outside after we beat Spain on Penalties not sure what would have happened if we'd lost. The upside was the landlord carried on serving.

My memory was of the Scotch v England game. Watching it at my gaff. The audience was divided equally between Scotch and English.
I was a bit gobsmacked when my mate of many years burst into tears at the end of the game and his missus had to take him home as he was inconsolable. He is now a Five Star General in the Tartan Army.

One of my favourite tournaments as well. Especially the semi finals.

It was good that’s for sure, possibly the best tournament held in my lifetime. Whilst the Scotland game was good, cos let’s face it smashing those backward inbreeds is always great fun.
The game of the tournament was us beating the Dutch 4-1, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better England performance either before or after that game. Terry venables got everything perfect that day and I was a very proud Englishman.

Just referring to another thread this is why some people are embarrassed by some of those who live in 'the greatest country in the world'

I did have a nice evening. In which thinking about you featured not at all. As for having an effect you don't need to advertise further that you are a vile, ignorant, racist.

Yes, you are.
Imagine making that comment about India, Nigeria etc. You wouldn’t get away with that. What makes you think racism doesn’t count for other nationalities?
It is racist 100%.

"Rose tinted glasses ". Lowest goals per game of any major tournament. England weren't that great. Against Holland it could have been 6-6. Spain were the better team and had at least one good goal disallowed. Most of the games were forgettable that is why we all remember the England games only.

Been enjoying some of the games put out so far, including the build up to Englands first game. Some of it was laughably dated but a good watch. Cant remember most of the non-England games so its like watching them fresh.
So far i've watched:
England v Switzerland - Good first half, pretty dire second half. Englands play was so fast. Cant remember us playing like that since. McManaman was star man but was taken off with 15 to go!
Bulgaria v Spain - Game burst into life and one of the most ridiculous straight reds ive ever seen. People say you cant tackle today! Half empty Elland Road is a bit disappointing.
Germany v Czech - First and ultimately the last game. No Klinsmen and i swore at Andy Muller every time he came on screen.
Romania v France - Half way through. Howler of a keeping error. Romania look quality. The French team is insane and didnt even take Ginola!

Mcmanaman was a great player. One of my favorites. Take note James Brophy. You can run with the ball and do something at the end of it rather than running round in circles, falling over, kicking it out or a combination of all three.

England v Scotland on Itv4 Sunday. England need a result but you can bet the Scots will be up for it.
Read something in the paper that the looney uri geller is hiring a helicopter to fly over Wembley to try to affect the game.

Yeah, damn you James Brophy. Why aren't you as good as Steve McManaman?
