I wonder if the players were asked to consider reducing their wages?
After all who the f*** can spend £40k per week at present!

Ashley is the one instigating this I feel. Having been forced to close his shops he is doing this because he can, not be cause he needs to.
I also feel that is morally wrong for any Premier club to furlough their staff but also know that morals do not exist in the Premier league.

So are Fulham but they are also including support staff to the first team.

Sorry the players at any premier league club should be the first to do this even if it's 10 or 20% of their wages i'm sure the players can take a cut from 100k a week to 80.

In the richest league in the world, its been very surprising that the players have not done more to assist either their clubs or communities as a collective. The top clubs in Spain, Italy and Germany are shaming us right now by comparison.

If I was a supporter of one of these PL teams I would be letting the players know in no uncertain terms that they should be following the likes of the Spanish and Italian club players that have taken pay cuts.
Time for some contrition to be shown by these overpaid fannies.

Furloughing is not an across the board cut by 80%
A player on 100k per week doesn't get reduced to 80K - he actually gets cut to a maximum of 2500 per month - which is more like 30K per annum
Therefore these highly paid footballers are being asked to take a hefty drop and not a marginal one
Perhaps they should make this sacrifice for the good of the game and to ensure survival of our clubs

Tottenham's owner is an offshore BILLIONAIRE , let that sink in (pardon the pun)
Shameful.
Top end English clubs showing themselves up again for what they are.

I have no problem with clubs in L1&2 doing it as they don't have the same incomes and could be the difference in them surviving this crisis. They may have to furlough their players as well to survive.

Spurs have just told 500 odd staff their wages are being cut by 20% whilst the millionaire footballers have not been affected. Shameful really shameful.

What am embarrassment not just to football, but society these players and chairmen are. AFL and NRL players in Oz have taken an 80% CUT to help out, and they earn a fraction of some of these players. Senior board members have stood down to save money, and it's not like the clubs are even owned by the insanely rich like the EPL.

This might be the issue for footballers - and its why each club's squad need to come together as a collective and help provide a solution. If I were a player at Spurs it would not be one in favour of the club, but for a charitable cause. There have been players that have made personal gifts so far (usually high profile) but top level squads need to be seen to be in this fight with everyone else.

the players should be offering up some of their wages to pay those that ain't getting paid even 10% of what an average premier league player earns would help keep most families afloat for several months.

It's down to the players to initiate this really and volunteer a pay cut or deferral as I have read this morning that if it is initiated by the club it allows players a free transfer as a breach of contract.
It also doesn't show well on Daniel Levy with placing staff on furlough whilst trousers get a £3m bonus payment.

Whilst it's disgusting, is it much different to big companies laying off staff whilst the CEOs and Directors are still getting millions in salary?
I know football and footballers have and probably will always been seen as overpaid for what they do but i dont really see much difference. Many on here are dead against socialism on every politics thread but seem to be encouraging it because its football...interesting.

I agree if they're furlonging their staff then they should be forbidden for taking any dividends and taking some sort of pay cut. I hope people won't forget the companies that shafted people after all this is over.

While we are at it the players agents should be forced to give some money back.
