The National League has asked the Football Association to close the rest of the non-league season.

Does that mean that Barrow and Harrogate will be promoted?

Under present FA rules, I would think not. It's much easier for them just to close up shop and walk away with no resolution.

With 9 games to go, there might still be time to finish the NL season.

Steps 5-6 will not be resumed , There is talk of promotion and relegation being settled on a points per game basis this maybe be the criteria the National League use with the top two on ppg going up.

"National league bosses are asking the FA to give their decision the thumbs up, and confirm the remaining positions to decide who is promoted and relegated. If the FA agree, the National League will become the first in the UK to fail to complete the season due to the pandemic. Current leaders Barrow and second placed Harrogate would be promoted to League Two. However, with the EFL yet to decide how to conclude its season and still keen to finish the current season, League Two could end up with 26 clubs if there are no promotions or relegations".

Premier League will finish as so much TV money involved.

Question mark over the Championship and I can see that not finishing.

Then watch for the law suits before the next season starts

And I doubt if we will see any 4-day cricket this year either.

If they are going to play the championship, then L1 and L2 will probably play too. Quite how I don't know since a fair percentage will be out of contract as at the end of the regular season.

EPL will finish with games played behind closed doors. Not sure that works for the EFL though as they need the gate receipts

Think possibly that they're trying to put pressure on the EFL for a bail out of some description

Well maybe some of the clubs should pay within their means, to many clubs in that league are full time.

I reckon we'll get a two month season in August/September with plethora of one day cricket. Which to be honest is best for the counties as that's where the cash come through the turnstiles.

When they start playing again, the players are not going to be math fit - it'll be like pre-season friendlies.

Maybe they should play twice a week but with only 2 halves of 30 minutes each match?

I hadn’t thought about that and it’s a good question. My best guess would be yes. We’re the last winner’s of the league so I suppose we’ll hold the Trophy until the next National League winner’s.

But from what I read on the BBC website both Barrow and Harrogate would still get promoted and Stevenage would stay up.
We would have a 26 club L2 next season.
IF that happens then Barrow would get the trophy, I assume ??

There is now talk of the National League being null and voided this season. Barrow are not happy bunnies because they are top but they are not in an unassailable position.

Steps 3-6 of non-league has been abandoned. No promotion or relegation.

Hard luck Jersey Bulls who had won all 27 of their games this season and had already been mathematically promoted.

If it had happened to us I'd be focused more on the fact that thousands of people across the world are dying and on hoping my friends and relatives are safe. Football, frankly, is unimportant right now.

Yes, of course Football is totally unimportant at this very sad time, but this post is discussing the National League and how they should move forward to finish the season, the virus is being debated elsewhere on this forum.

Just been on the news, National League season to be scrubbed. Apparently no promotions or relegations .

At the moment it doesn't include the NL & NL North and South

South Shields, who are 12 points clear at the top of the Northern Premier League are now threatening legal action because they will not be promoted to the National League North. It seems to be a no win situation whatever the FA do.
