If You Think Things Are Bad Now

Well just remember this. If you think things are bad. Up until I was 5 years old, sweeties were rationed. 8oz's / 227 g PER MONTH!!!!!
To make matters worse, when I was in Gt Ormond St Hospital, the nurses used to nick our sweets on a Mafia type scale. After visiting time the "Angels " would swoop on all the sweeties saying, we have to distribute them. I had boxes of chocolates etc from my cousins. When the nurses distributed them I would get ONE TOFFEE with nightly medicine. Don't believe me? Watch Call the Midwife & see the nurses scoffing their sweets. It taught me at the age of 5, it is a dog eat dog World!!!

In my local ransacked Tesco yesterday, even the vinegar had run out.

What are people doing - pickling their toilet rolls?

Many moons ago there was a sugar shortage for some reason or other. Some bright individual started a rumour there was a shortage of salt. Labour Minister went on TV to say there was enough salt under Cheshire to last us a million years.

Watched a woman in Tesco earlier with 18 toilet rolls, 6 packs of pasta and 8 hand sanitizer bottles.

She even walked it to my car for me, fantastic customer service

Going down to Morrison's later. If they have run out of Banana Bread Beer I will go radio rental.

My worst nightmare is that I go there and they only have Tennents Lager left.

That is how we survived it. My mum passed on her tablet recipe to me. Most Scotchmen my age can make tablet and quite often macaroon bars too. Slavery had its benefits! Even though we have no teeth and very few of us live beyond 55.

Just back from Morrisons.

ALL the multipack lagers gone! Even that shitpiss Tennets Lager. But there was plenty of Banana Beer, Heather Beer and Seven Giraffes and I even got a bottle of Youse Lundiners Pride.

One woman was stood surveying the empty lager shelves and declared it "bang out of order and a f*cking disgrace". When I pointed out that bottled lagers, such as Foosties, were readily available on the shelves behind her she hugged and kissed me.

A new low was reached in Kent today someone was mugged for a bag of toilet rolls. Are they going to become common currency? Although running out would be a good excuse to buy the Sun or the Mail.

We did an event with pensioners and 11 year olds from the local school titled 'Growing up in Wartime' and I was showing the kids a sweet ration book, they were truly horrified.

Met a guy in the supermarket today holding a bottle of whiskey. He said "I hear alcohol is good against this virus". "I said maybe on your hands". He said "well me and the bad boy are going to go down fighting together". Lol.

Mines a Guinness.

My sainsbury was clear out of beer today, I guess the governments decision to close the pubs has got people stocking up on the old amber necker.

What was surprising was the absence of soft drink, all coke, lemonade etc. Gone. No squash, gone. Thankfully there was Pepsi Max so I was happy!

Someone has stollen my trainers and Hi-vis vest. They can run, but they can't hide.
