Are you still getting charged your direct debit while football is indefinitely cancelled?

I paid mine in full so it’s a big fat NO from me
Didn’t realise you could pay by direct debit thought the company the club where going to use went bust ?

Dunno but we're being asked to renew for next season:

Just received that email as well. Not sure what planet the club are on, don't see how you can talk about renewing for next season, when nobody knows when this season will finish, or indeed when next season will start. Seems ridiculous, to me, to send this email at this time.

That is... very poorly judged from the Club

Possibly a “What can we do while there’s no games on?” and / or
“How can we get some income in while there’s no games on?”

Ticket priority for cup games and for selected home and away games

Good that ST holders get priority for only some home games!

Hard pass from me for next year. Putting these out now, when so many people are unsure what financial implications there will be for them, as well as the health of themselves and/or loved ones, is at best commercially naive and at worst ultra-insensitive.

I agree to an extent, although to be fair they've been upfront in the FAQs about why they're doing this now:

"We’ll be completely honest – Season Card income is absolutely crucial to a football club and Leyton Orient is certainly no different.

With the 2019/20 season currently postponed for the foreseeable future and our retail and non-matchday operations already taking a huge hit because of the measures introduced to combat the COVID-19 virus, we need your backing now to help us get to 2020/21.

We appreciate however that these are challenging times for us all and asking to pay for your Season Card now won’t be easy for everyone. That’s why we’ve extended our Early Bird window to cover more than one pay day, which we hope will help supporters."

Personally I'd have put this message in the main article and the email that went out.

Fair enough, didnt see that. Still though, i understand that football is a money pit, but cry me a river that our multi-millionaire owners haven't got income for a few weeks when small business and food banks are closing down.

Not ridiculous to ask fans to help by paying early, if 1000 fans buy in the next couple of weeks it will make a lot of difference to the club and possibly jobs at the club during the Covid lay off. Some people will be in a position to buy early for others not great timing but it makes sense to ask the question.

but they're asking us to pay a known amount for an unknown product - next season could be seriously shortened, with considerably fewer matches. Appreciate their costs are more fixed, and we do want to support the club, but I think the timing and the tone here was poor.

Usual load of old nonsense being posted on here. If you don't agree that this is a sensible move then don't participate. And shut up. Simple.

Well, as I found out yesterday that I need to take an unpaid break from work until at least June I for one won't be getting a renewal.

I understand why they're doing it now - I think in a couple of weeks the timing could be even worse than now as far as COVID-19 goes.

What I don't like is having a "card" for all matches. I regularly swap individual match tickets with the guys I sit with if I know I can't go, or they can't.

I wouldn't be able to do this anymore, so that's one less bum on a seat for those games.

Really sorry to hear that LR07, let's hope things pick up and we can return to normal soon.

Depends on how advanced the system is but you should be able to transfer a ticket to someone else via their individual card reference. At a minimum, i'd expect the club to be using this to implement a system like Prem teams where if you can't go, you put your ticket on the site and someone can buy it, it will then be loaded onto their card, and off of yours and the club probably take a little cut too.

Not a lot of people will be in a position to pay out with so much uncertainty I think we all appreciate that, but I'm sure those that can will.
If the season is shortened as I suspect next season will be after they shoe horn the rest of this season into late summer, there will be probably be refunds or discounts on the following season. But the club has to try everything to survive, can't expect the owners to constantly put their hands in their pockets.

If you read the excellent Q&A on the website/twitter - re season tickets. the cards can be used by others, perhaps buddy up with someone in the same boat?

Yeah i saw, but thats not the system i wrote about, which would be better. I think the original post was making the point that if I cant go on week 1 and give my season ticket card to my mate, who cant go in week 2, i might not be able to get the card back.

Yes, I do get that, but you've got to admit that's a lot more of a faff than just giving someone the paper ticket for a single game.

That's the downside of the card system I guess, personally I prefer it. I suppose it depends on who they use as provider and how much the club invest on this system but I wouldn't expect it to be over sophisticated, I'm sure the club will roll it out fully as soon as they can.

While I can understand the club’s thinking, this move is both ill-judged and insensitive in this time of world crisis.

Poor.

Don't get me wrong, I think Kent Teague is great - but this does make me chuckle cuz of a conversation I had with him once (he wasn't entirely sober tbf) about the (in)ability of the current ground to sustain Championship level football, and he rather hastily suggested that fan revenue didn't matter. In his defence, he did come up to me a few moments later and apologise for the misunderstanding :D
