Dave Victor`s assistant said after the game yesterday that only five or six from that starting line-up will be in our team next season. Got me thinking.
Vigouroux
Happe
Brophy
JMD
Sotiriou
Cisse (?)

I hope you’re right about Cisse. Ling better not feck that one up like the Adams situation.

Not sure we’ll hang on to Happe, unfortunately. Major surgery possibly needed to that area with Ekpiteta agitating for a move and Coulson finished at this level.

Many of the squad will still be under contract until Summer 2021, so more than half a dozen will be around the place

are the six who will absolutely be here.
Happe will be here unless we can offload him for a few quid.
I’m hoping we don’t balls up contract negotiations with Ruel and Cisse and both those are here next season. They are crucial to a promotion push.
Marsh may be here but I hope not.
Dayton is on his bike.
So five or six is on the low side, I reckon.

So now a programme seller is the font of all knowledge on the playing staff & Embleton & Lings thoughts ?

He might sell programmes, but I have always thought he has had some interesting views about our team.

What exact qualifications he has to be a summarise I don't know. His Dad is worse. I would prefer ex-players like Terry Howard or Peter Kitchen.
Thankfully Dulcet Dave does most of the talking.

You think we'll give Coulson another years contract? Can't see it myself

Coulson signed a two year deal last summer. Can`t see him leave.

He's also probably the reason why all the joke names in texts sent to Dave Victor don't get read out - takes one to spot one.

Definitely not to a League Two team. Best case is sending him on loan to the NL with us retaining some/a lot of his salary.

Didn’t realise he was up this summer, thought he had through to 2021.
As it happens, I’d happily take him as number 3 or 4 CB, if he was happy to fill such a role.

You can be under contract but not first choice. I'm guessing that is what Matt was getting at. Nobody could fail to see the inadequacy of the current first XI. RE has even admitted that he favours a 4-4-2 but can't play it because you can't play Clay and Wright together in there. The question of whether we make Cisse's deal a permanent one and whether he could play alongside Clay or Wright in a two is still to answer. I'm a touch sceptical myself just because Cisse seems a tad one dimensional. He's a robust defensive midfielder, more positional than ball winning but his lack of creativity puts a lot of emphasis on his midfield partner to do all of the creating, supportive running and closing down. I don't think Clay or Wright could contribute all of that. I think of the two Wright is more likely to get the nod simply because he has more of a knack of arriving in the box.
Vigoroux has made a decent start and you'd expect him to be our number one next season. Ling & Judd have to be demoted or sold. Happe and Ekpiteta look like they're off. Coulson needs to be a squad player. Jamie Turley is permanently injured. Joe Widdowson is fine as long as we have a decent back-up/rotation option (You'd hope we'd give Sweeney & Ogie some more minutes but I'm starting to feel that RE doesn't rate them). So that's most of a back four to recruit in the summer. In midfield I'd be amazed if Dayton & McAnuff played many minutes. Maguire Drew and Brophy have to be shoo-ins, surely. Louis Dennis has to be seriously in contention for moving on. He's either been injured or anonymous. Clay and Wright are your rotation options alongside Cisse or someone similar. What that means for Kyprianou I don't know. It wouldn't surprise me to see Angol moved on. Just a hunch. We would all assume that Harrold will depart. That leaves Wilkinson, Sotiriou and Johnson as our strikeforce. We definitely need a strong physical presence because despite his size Wilkinson doesn't seem to put himself about and hold the ball up.
In summary...
Guaranteed First XI
Vigoroux
Cisse?
Wright
JMD
Brophy
Wilkinson
Sotiriou
Squad options
Sargeant
Coulson
Sweeney
Ogie
Ling
Widdowson
Clay
Kyprianou
Shabani
Johnson
Probably off
Ekpiteta
McAnuff
Dayton
Judd
Happe
Dennis
Harrold
Angol
Turley

One year according to this, or did he have a year left already?

My guess for first XI (from R-L) would be
Vigoroux
??
Ekpiteta (if he signs new deal- looking unlikely)
Happe (if he is not sold)
Brophy
Wright
Cisse (if he signs)
Clay
JMD
Sotiriou (if he signs new deal)
Wilkinson
Bench: Sargeant, Ling, Coulson, Turley, ???, McAnuff, Angol

Signed a two and half year deal when he joined us permanently in Jan 2018, then a 1yr extension to that summer 2019.

Thank you for clarifying what I thought I already knew.
I'm happy enough with that.

I like Matt, he's a good lad. Talks more sense than most, subject to the constraints of being part of the club's media machinery. I'm not sure he can be seen as authoritative on this subject though.
