Cyber bullying

There’s a user on this board currently employing some really nasty tactics in an attempt to cyber bully.

Lucky7 goes around belittling and having digs at other users. He sets up alias accounts to prolong those attacks.

He has also previously made threatening comments about “crossing paths” with me at Orient games.

During a recent banning he got for trolling he went on another Leyton Orient message board and set up a fake account, purposely pretending to be me (even writing an opening message on that board introducing “himself” as a member of this board, so it was a clear attempt at imitation). He used that account to abuse users on the other board who I have a decent relationship on this one. It was an attempt at character assassination and trying to ruin positive connections with other people.

He has now employed the tactic of claiming that I set up the fake account on the other board as an act of attention seeking.

This is really disturbing behaviour and mirrors the kind of stuff you see abusive partners doing. Abuse is not always physical. Emotional abuse is equally as powerful.

Considering the emphasis the football league and Leyton Orient are putting on mental health and that organisations like Mind are getting much needed exposure I’d like to say that the fact somebody is using a Leyton Orient message board to attempt to relentlessly cyber bully people really is disgusting.

Behind every account is a real person who may be negatively impacted by such nasty behaviour. It’s one thing having arguments with people on a message board, but doing things like setting up fake accounts and gaslighting them when you get caught, attempting to make it look like the victim is the guilty one is simply too far.

I started boarding out of curiosity (I’ve never done it before. But unsavoury characters like Lucky7 really have exposed the nasty side of what should be an enjoyable activity.

The mute function is fine to stop arguments, but when somebody is actively trying to ruin your accounts reputation by setting up fake accounts in your name then you’re on a whole new level.

Lucky7 also regularly falsely accuses me of things such as having aliases. Just ignoring him means that he gets to spread whatever lies he wants unchallenged.

It’s the point I was trying to make. Arguing on a board is not the same as the constant, varied and relentless tactics Lucky7 employs just to ruin one persons experience of what should be an enjoyable activity.

@Huxley.
Agree with what you say about Cyber bullying, especially when it comes to using all forms of foul language.
Seems a thing that is prevalent of internet social media. Yes we all have different views on many subjects, thats is life, but no need for the use of bullying tactics and abuse in order to get your own point of view over. Lucky7 does push the boundaries for sure.

I wasn’t really talking about foul language, although I get your point.

I was talking a little deeper. Lucky7 does two things which I think are beyond basic message board bickering:

1. He makes threats which attempt to make the recipient think they may be in danger in real life (e.g. “I’ll see you at the Newport game”)

2. He attempts to ruin the online reputation of the user by setting up a fake account in their name with the main purpose of ruining the relationship the original user has with other members in the board.

When you think about mental health, these two actions are totally unacceptable. The first being an attempt to induce unnecessary anxiety/fear and the second being an attempt to reduce self-esteem by ruining positive relationships that the user may have.

His behaviour is disgusting and anybody who supports positive action towards improving mental health should be appalled that a message board which carries the Leyton Orient name allows an individual to behave like this.

That post is regrettable. I’m pretty sure Spen has me on foe here but I’d apologise to him for saying it.

However, I did not follow that up with threats about bumping into Spen in real life and nor did I pretend to be him on another message board.

Part of being a good boarder is learning from mistakes. Yes it was an unpleasant comment but I never made active attempts to intimidate him.

I see that Lucky7 is bringing up previous bickering matches I’ve had with Spen in an attempt to discredit my indictment of his (far worse) behaviour. Another thing abusers do. Attempt to deflect criticism of their behaviour.

Please don’t let this distract you from my main points about making real life threats and attempting to ruin a persons online reputation by setting up a fake account in their name.

If my interaction with Lucky7 was nothing more than bickering I wouldn’t have raised this issue at all. Please consider his wider actions, which I think are unacceptable.

I didn’t post Spen’s details on this site. What the hell are you talking about?

In fact, I did the exact opposite. I said I thought I knew who he was on that supporters meeting thread and purposely didn’t say who. It was literally yesterday. Anyone can go and see.

You’re a really nasty piece of work. Gaslighting me over the fake account you set up on the other site really has exposed you.

Disgusting behaviour.

As mentioned, the fact that you are allowed to attempt to cyber bully on the message board of a club who proudly support mental health causes is shocking.

I’ve argued with Spen in the past and said some things which I now regret. I haven’t interacted with Spen for ages. He wisely blocked me and we’ve avoided each other since. I mentioned him yesterday because he’s genuinely gone up in my estimation. It’s clear he ignores me so fair play to him.

You on the other hand have attempted to intimidate me by threatening to “cross paths” with me in real life, set up a fake account on a different board to ruin positive relationships I have on here and are now accusing me of making it all up. You’re clearly a very nasty and abusive person who tries to use intimidation and mind games to attack people.

Thankfully many on this board can see you for what you are.
