Wholefoods pisses all over waitrose which has gone downhill. It is miles better than anything else. There are just hard to find.

The lack of Wholefoods locations and size of the product range were reasons it got marked down. As for product quality by square foot of shop floor I make you right, it's better

That's a cracking league, however I think M&S barely qualifies as a supermarket nowadays. It's a decent foodhall, but lacks a variety of products.

Lidl's fresh bakery range is far superior, a lot of Aldi's still don't have fresh bread/pastries on site.

Aldi's are plagued by long queues also. Lidls also suffer from this somewhat but mitigate it better with the use of Self checkouts and the cashier who scan at the speed of light and don't smalltalk

I think I overly weighted for food quality and range and neglected other household essentials in my ranking

Their home delivery suck though,so I don't use it.

I can see where you are coming from regarding the instore bakery in Lidl. Lidl are also plagued by long queues at the both the manual and self service checkouts. The three nearest to here would arguably be Walthamstow, Stratford and Ilford and there are always queues. Some of Aldi's products are superior to Lidl, deluxe pizzas, pesto, chicken sausages to name a few.

Aldi's commitment to imitating established brands is its USP I suppose. That can be seen as either a positive or a negative.

It's easily the cheapest weekly shop available though

In order, I shop mainly at .......Lidl, Tesco, Aldi, Sainsburys.
As to Lidl and Aldi products, Lidl for me are better plus it has a bakery, small baguettes are a bargain at 22 pence, very fresh and if you are lucky you can catch them as they have just come out of the oven. Not so many queues at the Harlow Lidl compared to Aldi, also a far bigger car park than the Harlow Aldi which is quite often full or nearly full. Best time to shop for less customers in most supermarkets is around 3pm, or 8pm approx. If you want to shop at a very quiet Lidl's with not many customers, try Waltham Abbey branch, so few customers compared to the one up the road at Waltham Cross which is nearly always very busy. Shopping at Lidl and Aldi is so much cheaper than the bigger supermarkets, especially when compared to Waitrose and M@S. Give them a try and you get to know what particular products you like. Amongst other things, yesterday at Lidl I purchased 500 gram of basic Spaghetti for only 20 pence and a kilo of nice medium sized brown onions for only 39 pence ( special offer at the end of the vegetable section ) also tomato seeds, 80 seeds per packet, for only 29 pence, all amazing value.

I am quite lucky when it comes to local supermarket shopping. Tesco, Lidl, Aldi and Sainsbury all within 1 1/2 miles of where I live, two big Tesco's and one smaller one at the Town Centre. The 2 big Tescos and the Sainsbury all have huge free car parks and both Aldi and Lidl have car parks as well.

I find Asda very good value for money when we shop there. Tesco and Sainsburys are becoming more expensive lately.
Aldi are fast coming up though, the new shop in East Barnet is a good example of how a complete shopping experience
should be. Also Lidl, with their fresh meat, poultry and fish products are also good value for money.
