The country has been pushed so far to the right, it does open up things for the left. Ironically, I think we have a better chance of getting a lefty government here after everyone has suffered 5 years of Boris/Cummings

My American friend is a Democrat and he likes Senator Amy Klobuchar. He says ''she is a great speaker, both funny and serious, and she is very personable. She is also moving up in the polls.''

Bernie is a wonderful man, and i would vote for him in a heartbeat if i was American. First he has to get the Democratic nomination.4 years ago, they used some jiggery pokery to make sure Hillary got the nomination.
If he manages that, then youll see the same thing as happened to Corbyn, happen to Bernie.....Overnight he'll become anti-semitic ( yeah I know hes Jewish, but that wont stop the right wing), He will be made into a bogey man etc etc
He is so the opposite of Trump.....a kind, thoughtful man

Trump's gonna win whoever the Dems pick

Would be amusing to see Bloomberg get it given how much he winds up Don. Fairly good chance of Sanders getting it, the GOP would have a field day with him, bringing up his past support for Castro etc

For the sanity of the world I hope they find some one any one that kicks trump back up one his towers and then locks all doors and remove his Twitter so we never hear from that big mouth twit again
Sadly, I can't see any of that happening. I fear we are stuck with Trump until 2024

As my American friend says, in the USA any form of socialism is viewed as akin to being a form of Communism.
Also any suggestion of an NHS type of healthcare is shunned by many and also it is a Country where it would be very hard for a woman or Gay man to be voted in as President. The mindset in the ''Rustbelt'' and most Southern states is on the whole, very right wing and Republican Territory, places where they still talk of having armed militias which they would use to resist their own countries military, many still have that American Civil war North versus South mindset and they strongly resist any legislation to bring in any forms of tighter gun control. From what my friend tells me, the most liberal minded part of the USA is California.

A light moment said in zest - do you really think that is not understandable
just sad that when someone mentions a promising woman, who could be president one day, your first thought is imagining them on a strippers pole.

Great point. When they slam him as a Socialist, they actually mean like Socialist/Communist as in Soviet/Venezuela style when he is more in the category of Social Democrat European style. So many Americans go bankrupt after being in hospital as they don't have health insurance. Many loose their life savings after surgery.

Perhaps, it's not a great example of a great world democratic country after all. As things stand in America, their future democracy is at stake, and it's happening in open sight.

Don't know the lady from a bar of soap - my eyes went straight to the last words that's all - I know pole was spelt correctly by Sid as polls - I best stick to being more serious - comedy was never my bag

I guess in a world of political correctness if it had been a man that I suggested climbed a pole you would of just dismissed it as a stupid remark without the gender implications getting your attention and needing any comment

Ok I see its 2020 now and sensitivity on gender is rampant
Still not ok to objectify a woman like that mate

She's not even fit

The way Trump is going, with his party members grovelling to go to great steps to keep him in power, what are the chances of a Trump family dynasty taking over USA politics in North Korean style. 50 years of Trumps being in power ! Dont underestimate the way that Trump could get the rules changed to suit himself and his family, Putin style rules to keep his and his families hold onto power.

Trumps a vindictive narcissist conman who will try and sow so much division to try and remain in power. He couldn't care less about America and he demands loyalty like the dear leader in China and North Korea not to mention the undemocratic autocratic Royal Families in many of the Gulf States. He will not give up office even unelected. He is fully committed to using all institutions against his perceived enemies. He has said multiple times that the police, army and militias are with him. In comparison to Nazis Germany, we are in the year 1936.

Scary times TBH

Trump has done wonders for the American economy and is nailed on to beat whoever wins the democratic ticket, especially if it’s that senile leftie sanders.
