It has to stick.
If U.E.F.A & F.I.F.A want any kind of credibility
they have to carry out punushmdmts to the full.

Re: Man City banned from CL for 2 years
If you read the city statement they seem to have a case. They say the person doing the investigation was biased from before the investigation began, see below.
In December 2018, the UEFA Chief Investigator publicly previewed the outcome and sanction he intended to be delivered to Manchester City, before any investigation had even begun.
The subsequent flawed and consistently leaked UEFA process he oversaw has meant that there was little doubt in the result that he would deliver. The Club has formally complained to the UEFA Disciplinary body, a complaint which was validated by a CAS ruling.
'Simply put, this is a case initiated by UEFA, prosecuted by UEFA and judged by UEFA. With this prejudicial process now over, the Club will pursue an impartial judgment as quickly as possible and will therefore, in the first instance, commence proceedings with the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the earliest opportunity.'

I understand that's one of the issues. The sponsor paid x amount to city but the majority of the cash came from the owner and not the company. Still if what they say is true then that seems an trifle unfair, if only there was a lawyer on this board who could give an unbiased opinon on pre judgements in law.

The system may be flawed, I agree, but as I understand it City have (a) not countered the findings, apart from saying the incriminating line was out of context, and (b) have not cooperated at all with the governing body.Thor wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2020 9:31 pmIf you read the city statement they seem to have a case. Once again rugby has set the lead by nailing Saracens. It will be interesting what the PL do, because they have an investigation pending too.

Re: Man City banned from CL for 2 years
I'm not suggesting that cheating is acceptable. Just highlighting what the club has said is a flawed process with a predetermined outcome, surely if that's true, that cannot be right?
On another level, this is a club that owes zero pennies to anyone, all debts are paid on time and nothing is borrowed or owed to anyone. I'd say it's a well run club among others as well.

100% will be in the CL if not next season, but defo the one after.
Too much money in it and too many people at UEFA and FIFA who love a bribe.

Even if the ban is extended on appeal to 10 years, Man City will still be playing in Champions League again before West Ham ( or for that matter Newcastle)

Re: Man City banned from CL for 2 years
There is more chance of me buying Newcastle than there being any Saudi takeover there.
The story is total bull.
Like every other alleged takeover.
The stories are pumped out by the FCB every time season tickets are due for renewal or transfer windows are coming up.
