The rest of the season
Let's be honest, we're now safe. Any slim worry was removed last night.
Whilst I understand the need for trying to keep the, relatively, successful period going as long as possible, to finish as high up the table and take some momentum and confidence etc into next season, we have 13 games free to plan for next year.
We should be having full and frank talks with Cisse right now and getting him to agree to a deal in principle. If he's interested in staying, make him an offer he can't refuse, give him the captaincy and get it wrapped up now. If he doesn't want to stay, send him back.
Same with Marvin - we should be making him an offer he can't refuse. But if he won't commit, tell him thanks for his service and get him out of the side. We have Coulson and Widdowson to play out there this season, could even get Shadrach back if he's doing ok out on loan which it sounds as if he is.
Judd needs to be given the rest of this season at right back and told he has 13 games to prove himself.
Hector needs to be given as much game time as possible too. I'd like him to be included in every single squad and start as many as possible.
The likes of Dayton, Harold etc who are all going should also be used as sparingly as possible.

Re: The rest of the season
As long as we can play Mansfiled and Stevenage every week we will fly up the charts.

Re: The rest of the season
Thought you'd mention Judd, but perhaps the club dont need to see him play, he's unlikely to play 13 games without getting suspended or injured anyway.
Agree with giving Ogie and Hector game time.

Re: The rest of the season
The problem with giving Kyprianou game time is that we’ll have to drop Cissé. Don’t think either of them have got enough athleticism to play further forward. Ogie is getting his game time at Dover.
Ling will be back in the next week or so; I doubt we’ll see Judd again this season.
Would like to see Johnson given a go in the middle. Absolutely no way on earth he should be playing out wide again. Pleased with his defensive work rate, but that was about it. Still entirely unconvinced that he’s going to score goals at this level.

Re: The rest of the season
Think it's been alluded to before but Judd doesn't act like a pro footballer off the pitch. Think he'll be released at the end of the season. So we'll be looking to sign a RB with Ling as cover.

Re: The rest of the season
I would miss Marvin. He also chips in with valuable goals, too. Always prefer to see one of our trainees do well. For the moment, I can not think of too many signings, with the exception of Brophy, that have helped to transform our current team.

I disagree. I think he will get a few if he’s played in his proper position and not out wideKitch’s Magic Toes wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 11:02 am The problem with giving Kyprianou game time is that we’ll have to drop Cissé. Re: The rest of the season
Never going to happen.
The fact that Ross didn’t relegate us back to the abyss of the conference will be framed as a “success” by the club and justification to shut down any discussion about getting somebody else in.
My biggest concern is that we’ll find ourselves in the exact same position (bottom half) this time next year, except 2 teams go down next time around.
Keeping Ross is essentially writing off this season and next as I honestly cannot see the guy leading Orient into a serious promotion/play-off push. Reckon we’re much more likely to find ourselves in a genuine relegation scrap.

Re: The rest of the season
Agreed. This whole talk of "let him get his own squad in and then judge him" is high risk IMO. The existing squad are proven winners, when well led. Many of them have played at this level before. I'm not at all convinced that Ling/Embleton could improve it, and the fact that the only names we seem to hear sung at the ground these days are those of the last (dead) manager, and the current (underperforming) one worries me too.

Agreed, shame Ling has his head in the sand while fans pay to watch mediocrity week in week out for another year.Huxley wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 12:11 pmNever going to happen.

Isn't there at least one thread similar to this in each of the past few weeks. Nothing has really changed.

Re: The rest of the season
Agree with the original post. I’d also say that we should be trying formations, systems, tactics and game plans.
Ross needs to go into the first game next season, knowing what his ambition for the season is, the strengths/weaknesses of every player and how he wants his team to play. Him and Ling should be writing out the starting xi for next season based on this and filling in the gaps in the summer, whilst giving some of the kids a trial period this season.
It’s a great opportunity you don’t usually get

That doesn't make any sense, well done on avoiding having to admit being in the wrong though.

So when players have stated that the standard has improved so much since they last played in it &OyinbO wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 12:38 pm Agreed. They were strugling to keep up , is something you ignore , just because they had experience at some point in the past ?

Re: The rest of the season
It's not been alluded to at all, Ling snr came out in public and proper laid into the boy.
Can't think why he'd publicly criticise young Myles like that, when no other player on our books has come in for such treatment......

Ross publicly laid into Marv and Ogie so won’t be surprised if they don’t fancy signing an extension.

Re: The rest of the season
The first 12 games next season will determine whether Ross has the credentials to fulfil the boards expectations . He must use the remaining games this season in the same way Justin did at the end of his 1st season . That means giving the youngsters a go. He must also recognise the players who can master this league next season and get rid of dead wood even if they are under contract for another year. The likes of Marvin and Cisse are going to be vital in staying.Huxley wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 12:11 pmNever going to happen.

Re: The rest of the season
The objective should be to gain as many points as are available . If players are in & out & experimentation happens , we are likely to be no further forward next season.
Ross must see who has the desire to stay & crack on next year.
Those who are not good enough or commetted
enough should be released.
