Jamie Cureton (44) had joined Hornchurch from Bishop’s Stortford. He has made 29 appearances this season and scored 18 goals
Very impressive.

Crazy that he only scored once for us and that was away. Was it his ankle surgery before he joined or we were using him wrong? Whatever i t was, it was a real shame.

I looked him up last night and he scored 1 in 19 for us, the worst return of any club he has played for in his career. Amazing when you think about it

Nicely teed up for Maxy to trot out his boring Carlisle anecdote. Again.

It just goes to show that however good a signing looks on paper there are no guarantees.

He injured himself in his "home" training after we'd signed him, but didn't let on at the start of pre-season and then needed an op just before the season started. He never got a run in the team to get match and striker sharp. I understood from my friend in the club at that time, that Russ and Bazza did their nut when they found out about the injury and he was then no longer one of Russ' first choices on the team sheet.

Didn't stop him scoring at Carlisle though and fortunately I was on hand to witness it. Great days.

I can confirm this to be true. Max'y was indeed there on that glorious afternoon.

Indeed and I believe that was the day I predicted Rangers would soon be experiencing an insolvency event.
18 days later they went into administration followed by liquidation.
A marvellous goal by young Jamie. One to be savoured for life. It's a shame so many missed it.

We can’t all be proper fans like you can we? Only real fans go to Carlisle!

I've been to a few there and seen some shockers.
But I did also see that Ollie geezer have a decent game and score in a 2-2 draw.
Best of all was the 4-1 horsing we gave them watched by a half scooped me, EH16 and Spike from the Directors Box. Mooney was on fire that day and we didn't hold back on the celebrations.
