I thought it had been widely accepted that was ML's fault?
Add Shadrach OGIE to that list of talented young players free to leave at the end of this season. Not given a chance in the League this season even off the subs bench whilst Widdowson has been injured. He goes to Dover on loan, within a few weeks has scored a goal for them following a long run down the left wing, then selected for the National League team of the week.Thor wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 11:38 am WickfordO, let’s think this through.
We have a kid who had played a couple of games when the contract was offered, why would you turn it down? It’s not like you’re a regular or banging in goals like they are going out of fashion. There must be a reason why he has not signed, I don’t know what it is, but to speculate he must be unhappy with what was offered or he is unhappy with the background stuff that’s happens on a day to day basis. I doubt he has loads of money where he can just turn down what’s offered (age rather than family related wealth) so there must be more to this than meets the eye.
What we now have is fuel on a roll with his value increasing and or other parties suddenly becoming interested. I’ve been calling him out for a year or so and other like Sid for longer than that. We lost Teddy Perkins cos we wouldn’t offer him a a contract, how premier clubs want him now? Two isn’t it? We lost Bonne on the cheap as we allowed a ridiculous low buyout clause be inserted. Justin offered Judd a new contract last season and yet he can’t get in the team from what would seem a biased viewpoint. Marv won’t sign a new contract either, why is that? And let’s not go down the Adams route either shall we?
It just seems to me that there is something fundamentally wrong in the background of our club. We project this happy club, this great culture when the reality seems to be somewhat different. I fear we will lose Judd, Marv and Ruel for reasons that don’t stack up from a football perspective.
It’s a shame, a real shame. I hope I am wrong.
RE is in this weeks podcast about Ogie "he is not yet physically ready" five mins later he says "hes built like a man, very powerful"Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 1:03 pmAdd Shadrach OGIE to that list of talented young players free to leave at the end of this season. Completely correct. Being as Adams was a free agent, he decided to wait awhile to weigh up his options to see what clubs came in for him. At the time he thought a football league club might be interested in signing him. So why should he have been in a rush to take the first offer that came along ? I would have done exactly the same, after all, once you sign on the dotted line, you are committing yourself to a club for at least a couple of years of your life, not like a normal job where you can decide to move to another job whenever you feel like it !RedO wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 11:50 amI thought it had been widely accepted that was ML's fault?
A ridiculous deadline was imposed on Adams, whereby he was told he had to accept our offer before a certain date in May 2017, all because we had Dale bloody Gorman lined up as the next option. So not only at fault for the handling of Adams contract negotiations, but also at fault for thinking Gorman would be a suitable replacement.
I think Ross is somewhat clueless when it comes to judging players ability. I remember speaking to Justin a few years ago after the pre-season game at Harlow, I had a nice chat with him ( he was very approachable ) I said I really rated the young Ogie and he agreed and was very enthusiastic about his prospects.Thor wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 1:17 pmRE is in this weeks podcast about Ogie "he is not yet physically ready" five mins later he says "hes built like a man, very powerful"Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 1:03 pmAdd Shadrach OGIE to that list of talented young players free to leave at the end of this season. Either he is ready or Ross is just talking out both sides of his mouth.
You are completely correct in everything that you wrote, all in all, a ''Bullseye'' comment.AckneyAwks wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 1:31 pm What is it with our football club. When you have youngsters with obvious talent dont dither, dilly dally or just plain F..k up. Get them signed on two or preferably three year contracts. Cant believe it would be too expensive and they would probably be keen to sign with the opportunity of first team football at there parent club. With a few senior players leaving at the end of the season on bigger contracts we know monies are there to cover there signatures.
Probably by the end of Feb we will be safe. The first thing we should do is bring Ogie back from Dover and straight into the first team, in front of Widdowson or Brophy. If he shows potential or class straight away then it will save the club a lot of money as against signing a bang average experienced left back on big wages in the summer. I'm sure there must be some clause in the loan deal with Dover that releases him. Just imagine if Sotoriou and Ogie were above average we could be looking at 2/3 million plus for both as against £100,000 for both out of contract players.
As Del Boy would say...You know it makes sense Rodney ( i mean Martin ).
