Took him a while to get used to the league (perhaps understandably as he’d never kicked a ball in the FL before to my knowledge) But today showed, the guy is pure class. Did he put a single foot wrong?

I do like Marv but those big feet of his running at speed make me fear for his safety

We need to get him resigned pronto. I said to my eldest son, he remains me very much of Richard Rufus and that's a big compliment, trust me.

How is it? Rufus was awesome for Charlton and only injury in my eyes stoppped him playing for England. He was a quality centre half and as a player I used to love watching him wipe our forwards and the ball together, he was quality.

Lol at anyone who doubted him. So obviously a good player.

Embleton didn't even want him in the side, not that long ago

I thought that may have been part of the contract negotiation stuff?

Would be so good to get both Happe and Marvin tied down, they should be the basis we build on to get to the Champions ship.

God knows, but if it was, you have to wonder why Ling wanted one of our two best CBs left out at a time when we were struggling, just to exercise some leverage over his contract. I don't think even Ling would be that petty.

Or maybe Ross noticed he was suffering a dip in form, took him out the firing line to give him some time to get his head straight while continuing to show trust in him, and has been rewarded by him putting in some improved performances. Sounds like good man management to me

Except for the fact that we were total garbage while he was out, and Coulson was getting plenty of flak for his performances. Of course, the counter-factual is impossible to prove, but plenty of (sensible) people were scratching their heads as to why Marv wasn't in the side at that time.

We had a spell of poor performances while Ekpiteta was in the team as well, and he was struggling early on in the season. Don’t think most sensible people would dispute his potential, but I can’t see why it’s such a big deal to give a short spell out of the starting XI to someone who’s still pretty young and has no previous experience playing at this level.

As I recall, he’d actually been shifted to right back and was playing pretty well before Ross decided to drop/manage him.

All very odd.

Well it wouldn't be a big deal had it not co-incided with probably our worst form of the whole season, or if it had resulted in an improvement to our defence.

We're 12 points clear of relegation, so it still isn't really a big deal is it
