Has played 12 consecutive games ( league and cup ), has conceded 15 goals with 1 clean sheet. Does he start today?

Give the new fella a start, Sargeant was to blame for both goals at Crewe

Time has come for him to be dropped IMO.
It would have been harsh for him to be dropped straightaway when Viggy came in as he was in a good run of form.... but he's had his chance now.
The pressure of having an experienced pro on the bench seems to have got to him somewhat.
He's a decent backup for us though, gonna be on relatively low wages.

Time to give the new fella a start to show what he can do.
What do we have to lose?

It’s a fine line we are treading here with sarge. Drop him and we could in fairness shatter his confidence, play him and show confidence in him and we may just help improve him. Let’s be honest in those 15 games he’s played well, whilst you can’t say that about all of he players in front of him. One slip don’t make him a bad player and the second goal maybe he should have done better, but come on how many players did absolutely nothing to stop him, are you calling for each of them to be dropped?
Viagra might be a better keeper so the choice is change and possibly damage a young keeper or upgrade and hope the new guy does well. Like I said it’s a fine line.

Yes descent back up,he had little to do against Newport but made a mess punching one got away with that one cauld have taken it with his hands then their free kick for the goal he just did not move at all.

Whilst he could have done better for their goal against Newport the fact that two players totoslly let their men go is more of a problem than sarges poor movement in that moment. If the outfield players do their job the ball does not even get to sarge. The questions being asked is of your defensive unit not just the keeper.

Apart from a couple of mistakes, Sargeants kicking is not good enough at the moment and he should be more vocal.
If it wasn`t for the fact that we are getting closer to the relegation zone I would give Sarge a few more chances, but under the circumstances I think the new goalie should play against Stevenage.

Theres a lot of good goalkeepers on here judging by the comments.

easy one for me
Sargent inspires no confidence, very quiet for a goalie, does not boss his area, kicking is not good, and shot stopping is average, he also has a slight knock
He should therefore definitely play
Viagra will be with the other stiffs on the bench

I agree I think the new goalie on the bench has un-nerved him instead of inspire - yes we need a more vocal goalie who commands the area to give the defence extra assurance and confidence - shame but we cannot afford to be sentimental this game is a must (not lose)!

No it’s about time to try Vigouroux

I expect Sarge to play although it would not surprise me if he's dropped. I got a feeling that Vigorous isn't quick match fit yet - otherwise given his qualities he'd have already been between the sticks.

Sarg has never been a Dominating keeper
This new fella looks a big old lump &
Should command his box.
Plenty of verbals in keeping his defenders
On there toes.

We do need someone who can dominate in the box and shout at his defence when required. Sarge is not that vocal. We will see how this new goalkeeper fares. We need all 3points today.

Didn't think Sargeant deserved to be dropped and we
certainly cant read to much into the new keeper's
performance as Stevenage were so poor..
But if he is to keep the No1 spot his distribution needs
to improve 100% as he found the Stevenage East Stand
with every goal kick..

I think the strong wind contributed to the wayward kicking TBF.
Vigouroux looked the part today, I thought although he will have busier days.
A little harsh on Sarge’ maybe but I think Ross got this decision right and Vigouroux should keep his place.

I said this after Newport and Crewe , Sarge isn’t good enough and I don’t see what difference it makes if it knocks his confidence as we can always get someone else in. Football is like any other business and decisions can’t be made on sentiment.

Having not seen him play for lingleton to both tell us how great his distribution is I am surprised by the comments as I was expecting Alison or Edarson like distribution. A case of throw a bone to the masses and let them chew on it.

Confidence is very important to any player, and may I suggest even more so to a keeper whose every mistake is under the microscope.
It appears that Sam may not have the highest level of this commodity at the moment. Time will tell if a short break will increase or decrease his current level but I suspect it might not end too well for the lad , sadly.
