Stewart quoted a few lines from Measure for Measure in an exchange with a white person in 2018

This week Labour Activist and all-round arse arch Martin Shapland (a black man who continually tweets his own racist bile) dug the old tweet up and used it to accuse Stewart of racism because he used the word 'ape'. The original tweet was not sent or directed at Shapland - but he managed to stir up a sh*t storm and Stewart had to go.

Shapland only three days ago likened Sajid Javid to Gollum on his twitter feed, is policy director for the Institute of Civil Engineers and his social media is filled with inverted racist rhetoric. Not surprisingly he isn't at work today.

It seems obvious to me that the wrong person has been sacked. Stewart is known to be a very enthusiastic champion of ethnic minorities - and getting sacked for quoting Shakespeare to another white person is frankly idiotic

Shapland responded to reports on Thursday to explain that the issue went further than just one Shakespeare quote tweeted in isolation. In a statement, he said: “In so far as Mr Stewart caused hurt and upset, intentionally or otherwise, in an exchange earlier this month, there is a wider context. There was not a single post as has been widely reported, but several posts written by Mr Stewart, which have all now been deleted.
