Calderwood sacked

Post by eagwgw »

Wonder if he is to become the experienced number 2.....

Personally I hope he goes somewhere else.

Amusingly the early favourite for next boss is Paul Tisdale. Surely they can't afford him if we can't.

I really hope we don’t get Calderwood to assist Ross. If we want an experienced head go for Russell Slade. It will be interesting to see who they appoint next and compare them to how we did

If Calderwood comes in it just strengthen Lings hand.

The issue with Tisdale becoming manager is he wouldn't work with the existing backroom staff, he took his Exeter staff to MK Dons. Despite claiming we are paying Ross the going rate as a manager I imagine finances are also an issue while we (correctly) honour JE's contract it's going to limit the money available for a decent manager.

Be interesting to see what PoundhillO thinks of this. Personally, I wouldn't want him here, but if he knows Ling then you
can bet your life he will come here.

Interestingly I heard around Christmas time that JE had asked to bring in an experienced number two at the end of last season and that David Kerslake was in the frame to join the staff. Calderwood is I believe Lings best mate so odds on he will get the gig and probably end up as manager if Ross continues with his miserly 23% win rate.

If that is true then JE clearly didn't rate Embleton as a number 2, so why on earth wasn't this taken into account after JE passed away ?
This would have allowed an experienced, proven Manager at League 2 level and above to come in and choose his own number as JE clearly didn't rate Embleton as a number 2.

I don't think that we are in need or another 'nearly'manager type, but do need a proven leader and getter of points type person.
