Can any of you ahem good people let me know how the penalty came about?
From my view in the East it looked like a blatant handball by the Cobblers player

I thought that he had his hand in the air but was pushed in the back by one our players so I was a bit surprised to get the penalty.
Be nice to see it again.

That’s what I thought I was also wondering that if the ref did give the penalty for handball how come no card was dished out

From my position behind the goal in the South Stand, blatant hand ball, can't understand if it's a penalty then it has to have been a foul, if it's a foul then it has to be a booking which didn't happen or a sending off, ref doesn't know what he's doing

Watched it a few times and I think the Northampton player mis times his jump. there certainly wasnt a push.

Sadly Dayts had to go for wrestling the bloke to the ground, for such a mild mannered bloke he seems to find some novel ways to get sent off.

There was no push on the defender.

As for if its a penalty it must be a foul & therefore a card .

Do you not know the rules of Football ?

An offence being committed, is punishable & it was punished
With the award of a Direct Free kick or a Penalty.

Ref was Correct in doing what he did.

Its rule 12 (efl/fa )
● commits a foul which interferes with or stops a promising attack except where the referee awards a penalty kick for an offence which was an attempt to play the ball

Youve done well to see Dayton commit an offence in that.

Far better video on twitter, The Northampton player takes out JMD who has tried to retrieve the ball, Dayton starts to run away to celebrate sees JMD getting a whack and Goes and gets involved wrestling the bloke to the ground.

How was the ref correct in what he did ? , he didn't give a card for the handball 🤔🤔

Because not every handball requires a yellow or red card

Absolutely blatant push on their defender causing him to handball. How neither the ref or the linesman saw it I don't know.

TBH if it happened outside of the penalty area I reckon it would have been a free-kick.

Sotiriou has no intention of playing the ball at all, he doesn't even jump for it. I do think this caused the defender to wave his arms to try and claim the foul, in doing so they hit the ball.

Don't mind a bit of shithousery really, we need some players like that,

Blatant push for the penalty.

Sotiriou is pushing him towards the stand around waist height with his shoulders (as the defender is in the air) and JMD is dragging him away from the stand. We blatantly got away with it. Not complaining though.

For the penalty, the take from Clay and release to set Brophy off down the wing is exactly the type of play we need to be making. Time and time again. Turning defenders.

As a Penalty was punishment enough for the offence.

I think BIGRON needs to have it explained 1st hand,
by his referee mate & panda editor

Better view of the sending off offences here. Silly of Dayton to get involved.

Cant see a push. Was their defender trying to flap his wings and take off or something?

Ditto re the penalty and yellow card, definitely a penalty and should have been a yellow

Bit difficult for Brophy to do that from left back.

Agree with others having watched it back, definitely slight nudges from both Ruel and JMD in the penalty. No wonder he was fuming after it went in and tried to yank Jordans head off of his body.

Yeah.Let’s just say I’d have been fuming if that had given against us, rather than a foul on the defender. But them’s the breaks and boy did we need it.
