Another result that shows how bad a manager Embleton is. We weren't brilliant at the weekend but one lapse in concentration cost us the game so what do you do......make a few changes, change the formation and start with the mythical five at the back. Surprise surprise, we get run ragged for 45 minutes because we don't have a midfield and go in one down. Ten minutes into the second half Embleton does a Steve Davis, changes the formation, brings JMD on and takes off the big bloke up front! Following the third substitution we now have a balanced side, used to playing with each other against a team who have decided to shut up shop. A fluke penalty and the cavalry charge at the end will allow Ross to tell everybody we should have won whilst we work out what godawful formation he will devise at the weekend.

Sergeant - 6 - very nervous but after a jittery start was solid
Brophy - 5 - a wingback who didn't get forward in the first half and was a bit average in the second
Happe - 8 - a titan at both ends
Coulson - 6 - did okay
Ekpiteta - 7 - solid at the back and was always prepared to come forward with the ball
Marsh - 7 - our best midfielder played RB (Ross, Ross, Ross, Ross, Ross). Didn't get forward in the first half but was solid. 2nd half even better
Clay - 5 - a lot of aimless running around
Wright - 5 - gets an extra point for a well taken goal but can't tackle and his distribution was awful
Cisse - 5 - looked like a player who's been with us less than a week and isn't yet match fit
Harrold - 5 - very little service and constantly surrounded by at least three defenders
Wilkinson - 7 - by his standards an average performance, unlucky not to score

Soteriou - 6 - did okay when he came on
JMD - 7 - still baffled why he didn't start
Dayton - 6 - somebody must have put a curse on his mother many years ago, the bloke has no luck whatsoever

Happe 8 ? , i thought he was one of the poorer players on our side , Sarges kicking was poo poo 1st half .

A draw against an in-form side that had won its last 3 games shows how bad a manager Embleton is? Rightio.

The first half was backs against the wall for the defence with no protection from the midfield (who were to blame for the goal). Happe was the best of the three CBs, his passing was head and shoulders above Wright and he nearly scored in the second half. I stick by my rating.

So no good manager has ever overseen a poor performance by his team?

Some really dubious ratings in there.

Wilkinson looked good first half but totally disappeared when Harold went off. Cisse was solid and is going to be great for us. Brophy tried to dictate the game from left back but is wasted back there. JMD and Ruel both looked lively when they came on, even though the kid was played out of position again.

Harold was non existent, which was disappointing. Wright, Marsh, Clay were all non existent but that’s expected. Sarge was very wobbly after nearly throwing one away.

Awful from Ross putting Clay and Wright in as our offensive, creative midfielders. I mean, what the heck?

None of Hector, Judd but especially JMD deserved dropping.

I thought Marv and Happe deserve a bit more and any marks given should be debited from Coulson. Never showed enough willing in the fight against their big man - as if he knew the fella was bigger, stronger and faster.

Another very real problem is Wright. He does not have the ability to drive the team forward and the team does not have the players to make him effective. I can see why Bradford ditched him.

I can’t believe we almost won that game considering how bad we were first half. We gave it a go second half but still lacking in quality. I’m loath to criticise Ross but I can’t see us improving if we constantly change the team, the tactics and the formation. Saw enough of Cisse to hope there’s a player in there but I thought that about Gorman too. And because of the last few minutes I’ve come away feeling like I’ve seen a much better game than it actually was.

Wilkinson took over the Harrold role on 55 mins and that's not his game. Brilliant header in the second half and his cross from the right led to JMD nearly scoring - aside from that he disappeared.

Don't doubt Cisse will come good but it was too early for him to take on the Cobblers defence all by himself

This has happened a few times this season, Swindon, Forest Green, Grimsby and again tonight, where we are poo poo in the first half conceding goals galore but have a strong 2nd half, like tonight, where we deserved a point.
Northampton looked a decent team in the first half but we came back well, but why don’t we start like that ???

Exactly right, when we discard the negativity and stop passing back and sideways , and attack sides we are more than capable of holding our own. Shame we don’t do this until we are one down.

Totally agree - anyone who saw the first 60 minutes would as well. A friend who joined me (non Os fan) couldn't believe how poor we were.

Marsh showing again how much he is developing as a player. Spurs will be very pleased.

Was Cisse playing as a holding midfielder or was he asked to go box to box?

And so will we. I said many time he’s a good player and will have a good career in the game, I’m pleased that he performed well once more last night by the sound of it. Long may that continue.

1st half

Sarge 2
Marsh 2
Ekpiteta 2
Happe 2
Coulson 2
Brophy 2
Clay 1
Cisse 2.5
Harrold 2
Wilkinson 2

2nd half

Sarge 5
Marsh 6
Ekpiteta 5
Happe 6
Coulson 5
Brophy 5
Wright 4
Clay 4
Cisse 6
Harrold 5
Wilkinson 4

Jmd 6
Dayton 6
Sotiriou 5

JMD put 1 cross in that hurt them so doesnt warrant MOM award for me . Cisse looks to have the ability to do the tough job , break down opposition play.

We can then build on this.

Really?

He was just as anonymous at right back as he is in the middle of the park.

No disrespect to the lad, he’ll have a career in the lower leagues, but doubt Spurs even bother to send anyone along to watch him.

Cisse gives us the opportunity to go back to 4-4-2, I hope. Just need someone strong alongside him. If Ross has the balls to drop Wright, that is.
