NIGEL TRAVIS & KENT TEAGUE INTERVIEW EXCLUSIVE

by Orientoutlookpodcast
Following the announcement that Ross Embleton is officially the head coach, we are delighted to have been able to speak to our owners Nigel and Kent to get their views on Ross’s appointment.

We asked a lot of questions about what made them choose Ross, why it took so long to announce, why there’s been no communication from the board etc.

Check it out on iTunes, www.soundcloud.com/orient-outlook, Spotify, Stitcher, TuneIn and Android Apps.

If Ross dosent work by taking the club higher in this league and then into promotion areas next season , then according to
Kent he will be sacked . Ling has to be sacked too as he has pushed this appointment so much . It’s like a father son relationship. Which isnt often healthy in business , one can be blind and blinkered by wanting something so much . He was also the man who really wanted Fletcher and identified Davis , so not the greatest record . I do
Think Martin is very wary of having a coach who takes too much control . No one else was even interviewed following Fletcher being sacked which seems insane and biased . The Decision
Made before all the Christmas games, also seems Mad , as those games were a big test and the results were dire ! Ok to be able to drop players but what about tactics and inspiring players and getting the passion ? We will see, but it feels like a student has been put into a job he’s not qualified to do and the club hoping he can learn as he goes along ! I thought we were a bigger club than that and had a bit more about us . The management will have to stick to their promise on this too or risk losing the fans . If this dosent progress orient with good results , he will have to go with Martin . Time to prove yourselves

They’re literally in the employ of the club (just unpaid, I presume).

Well I thought Nigel and Kent gave a very good interview . I've always liked Ross as a person and he'll get my 100% support . I hope he can prove a few boarders on here Wrong , including me and really get's this club moving again in the right direction on the pitch . The board now has to back Ross when it comes to transfer targets . It would be good to see more players of the calibre of Lawrence Vigouroux walk into our building. We've got to start building with next season in mind .

Very interesting. We are lucky to have these guys in charge of our club. Honest, sensible and realistic.

The Orient Outlook Podcast guys have now become the propaganda arm of Leyton Orient FC
Whenever "The Management " want something publicised, they call for " The Lads ", to put the correct spin on it, and try to kid us that black is white.
I don't even listen anymore because I know what will be said before it's said.
I've said this before, the club is being turned in a cult by Teague and Travis.
The rubbish both Ling and Embleton sprouted in their respective interviews was mind numbing.
They are losing me, that's for sure

Club has realised why pay for someone to record club official shows when you've got stooges from Orient Outlook, Orient Hour etc. to do it for free?

Might as well bring them in under the official LOFC branding as volunteer-run club shows, at least solves the illusion of independence from the club's official line as the PR spin is so obvious.

I did listen to the last podcast, and in all honesty they ("The Lads") were pretty critical towards the club and certain players.

Good god, the way you two are talking you would have thought Beelzebub was still in charge.

And if you cared to look, it was tweeted that it would be a good idea to have the interview on the official website as not everyone is on Twitter. It was also mentioned that a transcript of the interview should be made available on Saturday for those that may not even have Internet access.

This is a bit of an over-reaction, but there is an interesting point here - the club's own website and official channels made a bit of a hash of the announcement, and carried only banal interviews and statements from Ling, Embleton etc

Whereas the leadership chose to bypass the club's own channels and speak through an unofficial channel, but in a much more insightful and persuasive way.

Eccentric. Not sure what it tells us about the approach to comms at the moment, except that it's a bit of a mess. They will know that OrientOutlook is hardly like facing up to Andrew Neil, so it's pretty safe in that respect, but it does limit the audience and reduce the credibility of the message a touch, by making it an informal chat with the lads on some unofficial fan podcast. And also suggests that T&T don't trust the club's own comms to get the key points across well enough.

TBH, I gave up when I heard them saying Ross has the full backing and support of the players. He clearly doesn't and I'm sure a number of the players are actively looking transfers.

Can somebody summarise anything interesting in the episode?

For what reason do you say that Ross clearly doesn't have the full backing and support of the board?

They admitted that they should of got this sorted quicker.

And here he is again. True to form. Having another dig at us and without any good reason to do so. Youre consistent at least.

If we’re such a problem to you, why dont you just ignore us. Or start your own podcast or vlog up. But you wont do that because that means you are open to criticism and you wont like that. And you'd have to come away from your keyboard warrior safety net.

Think you may need to read my post again, I was referring to the players not the board.

No we haven't at all mr know it all know nothing.

We’re still season ticket holding fans who do an independent podcast. The fact we can interview Nigel and Kent is a huge positive for us fans as the club hadn’t planned to do anything as they do video content orientated media. Not podcasts.

Its fine if you dont agree with decisions the club make or other opinions but dont start throwing mud our way for no good reason.

Why would I want to open the same media that I'm not interested in? As you say got to stay consistent. It's exactly that constant forced expectation of positive feedback that grates, any view that isn't "fantastic news, up the O's" seems to be stamped down on by the usual suspects. You're in the wrong game if you can't handle critical reactions to your content.

So as a straight up question when did you know Embleton was being appointed?

Why is this propaganda? Because you disagree with the decision and are unable to accept it? They're answering questions about the rationale behind the decision.

OR- the club are just being open and communicating with fans using the channels available to them.

Not sure where you get the impression the club is being turned into a cult. Cant be doing a great job of it seeing as loads of people seem to hate Ross and Ling.

Comoenyouos overreacting? Surely not.

Don't necessarily see it that way. The owners wanted to give a more in-depth interview and a podcast is more appropriate channel for that as opposed to the club's YouTube account, where people prefer to watch short snappy videos with any excess content edited out. Pretty easy distinction to understand really.

Also T&T were speaking from the US by phone, so it wouldnt make a great video. Better that people external to the club interview them.
