Boycott Cyprus

The treatment meted out to that vulnerable 19 year old girl at the hands of the Cypriot police and judiciary fills me with disgust.

I will certainly never go to that island again and would be very concerned if any of my children decided to visit it.

For once I hope an economic boycott can lead to permanent change in the treatment of victims of sexual abuse.

Get Spen on it. He'll tell you how to go about getting a boycott of a country.

She wasn’t sexually abused.

If we start boycotting countries because of the way the system treats people we might be better off looking a bit closer to home.

Erm, so this story is about a bunch of Israelis who gang raped a young girl (allegedly) and suddenly Corbyn is being criticised. Wow, just wow!

There was video evidence which apparently showed she was more than a willing participant, and when confronted with this she retracted her accusations. She subsequently claimed she was pressurised to change her story because she was under stress, make of that what you will, but seeing as similar scenarios happen regularly here with people claiming they were pressurised into changing their story it hardly warrants the media coverage it has being afforded.

I wonder why so many high ranking Cypriot politicians and judges are calling for this to be reviewed then? I guess you know best.....

I read that the film you refer to showed her having consensual sex with one partner, then a bunch of guys burst into the bedroom and were told to get out. What followed was the alleged rape. PS - Corbyn wasn't there.

The fact that the Israelis were released has nothing to do with the fact that a mult-million dollar gas pipe business deal between Cyprus and Israel is being proposed, presumably.

Boycott Cyprus if you wish but Malta is where a complete boycott should have happened years ago. Contrary to EU laws they continue to shoot and slaughter any bird that crosses its airspace. And all in the name of macho fun. It is disgusting and no tour company should go anywhere near there

You would imagine a lot of youngsters will be rethinking their summer plans as a result of this.

Reading about the judge's attitude to this young woman is sickening.

This is a classic the brits sh*t don’t stink thread. That a) the girl in question is not lying (when as far as the courts are concerned she is lying and trying to accuse people of rape when they haven’t done any raping and b) said court is in some furrin country where they wear sandals and it’s all hot so it must be corrupt. If only it was In GREAT Britain.
Get a grip.

Why do people always jump to the conclusion that all justice meted out on Brits overseas is always biased and corrupt?
