Do we need to keep losing to go forward

While i never want us to lose, i fear that getting a result every few games will only keep things as they are. Continually losing might speed up the process of getting a new manager.

Very interesting point. It is a real dilemma.

I don’t think it matters as the club seem he’ll bent on RE being given the job. As talking heads once sang “were on the road to nowhere”

Genuine question my friend, how long have you been supporting the O's?

I think it was Kent Teague who made the comment that the owners wouldn’t let things “ unravel” so I’m confident that action will be taken at some point in time if the team continues to underperform. It just seems to me that at the present moment there is a growing disconnect between the Board and many fans as to the timing of that action and it’s nature. There certainly could be a number of factors behind the current situation - RE’s reluctance/ uncertainty about taking the step up to HC permanently, the Board having the same reluctance/ uncertainty about committing to RE , fear of a second “ Fletchergate” if we try to recruit now especially given the seeming dearth of good quality candidates within the clubs budgetary scope etc, etc.
Whatever the precise cause there’s little doubt that the “ do nothing “ option is not one that is working too well at the moment.

Good points, but there is a simple way to avoid Fletchergate 2 - get rid of Martin Ling.
All very simple.

The Board will likely be pleased with recent away results and as it supposed to be harder to win or draw away, so no change as things stand results wise.

Then where has all this 'looking for the club to be ambitious' come from lol.
I'm 35 years in and at any point has the club looked to be more ambitious, something comes along to scupper it.
It almost feels like we are cursed.

Why are so many of you so itchy to get another manager? Did you learn nothing from the FB era? Results are acceptable for the current squad and circumstances. Let Ross have some time to settle and learn, nothing good comes from the instability of changing managers every few months.

Because it's clear to many Embleton is well out of his depth as a manager. OK as an assistant, not in the main role.
People wanted an experienced manager brought in when Ling went left-field and appointed Fletcher. That would've been stability but blame the DoF for that spectacular failure.

Results are fine so he's not out of his depth.
Ling didn't appoint Fletcher.
Better luck with your next post.

I disagree with you. 6 points from the last 6 games or 7 points from the last 10 games. Both stats are relegation form and candidates.
Ling nominated fletch as his preferred candidate, so yes he had a massive say in his appointment. The board looked at his short list and interviewed them all and if you recall correctly the final list of 4 was cut to 2 due to 2 candidates dropping out as they could not bring their own staff with them. So the rest of the board had a decision to make against 2 candidates. I think it’s safe to say Ling failed the club in his recruitment “process”.

Results are not fine while we're in the bottom 8
Ling had the majority input in choosing Fletcher. Semantics of whether he signed the contract is neither here nor there.

1 loss in 5 games is another way of looking at results.
Did Ling nominate Fletcher as his preferred candidate? Prove it. All I know is he was shortlisted and the panel chose him.

I just hope Ross knows who to sign this month and for what position . If he gets it wrong we could be in big trouble come the end of the season.
