With The Happy Hammers starting their seasonal slump early than usual this year, Pellegrini gets the tin tack as a Christmas present. Just 1 point above the relegation spots. Yo ho ho, indeed.

I was at London Stadium yesterday and the parallels between the Orient v Colchester game and West Ham were noticeable. This could equally apply to any number of Orient games, however specifically:

β€’ Playing 1 up front (Haller) at home. Totally isolated (same as Angol). Always had 2 defenders on him, sometimes 3 and substituted early in 2nd
half. Did nothing for his confidence
β€’ Antonio made a difference when he came on (like Harrold) but still only 1 striker
β€’ Stupid, unforced defensive errors everywhere (Marvin)
β€’ Far too many misplaced passes from midfield (Sanchez)
β€’ A static midfield that didn’t move up to support Haller/Antonio and too many square/back passes whereas Leicester always seemed to have 3
in the box every time they attacked

And so on

West Ham have acted quickly to sack Pellegrini and it will be interesting to see if his replacement joins before we appoint our new manager although West Ham’s relegation worries are greater than ours.

I was at the Burnley v West Ham game back in November and made myself highly popular with the West Ham supporters I was with by saying it was just like watching the O's. It really was. A slightly higher skill level of course but overall much of a muchness. They lost 3-0 that day to a well organised, workman-like, but unspectacular Burnley. Sound familiar?

It's never nice to see our near neighbours and cousins struggle.

Absolutely , massively . I now expect West Ham to be in the thick of the relegation dogfight come the end of the season.

I don't. Whilst most West Ham fans don't believe that Moyes plays the kind of football that is their birthright I think he'll get them out of trouble. He'll still get the tin-tack again though when the fans revolt against his boring style. No pleasing the dopy beggars.

He didn't get sacked there previously, his contract expired and it was not renewed.
