Ratings v Cambridge

Sargent - 7. really good in the first half. Let two in but I’m not sure how many were his fault. Needs to learn how to time waste a bit better. Surely number 1 over Brill now.

Turley - 8. Scored a goal. Solid CB. But carded and gave away pen. Like Sargent, surely a first teamer from now on

Marvin- 7. Better than he’s been recently.

Happe - 7. Usual composed self.

Judd - 5. Really ropey. Kicking all over the place. Unlucky to get sent off but still not an improvement on Sam Ling, really.

Marsh - 6 decent shift.

JMD. 7. Belting free kick. Get a 7 for that alone.

Wright - 7. Lucky that the pen save ended up at his feet. Otherwise a decent and solid performance. He gets stick from some on here but he’s a decent CM.

Clay - 6. Usual stuff. Persistent moaning.

Brophy - 5. Didn’t even realise he was on the pitch

Angol - 6. Bashed all over the place and was unlucky at times. This type of game didn’t really suit him. Should have scored when through on goal.

Subs.

Harold -7. I’m basing this score purely on the fact that his job was to hold the ball up and waste time. He did it well.

Kyprianou - 5. Not a criticism but he didn’t do anything, not that he had a chance to.

Coulson - n/a. Nice to see him get a warm welcome brim Cambridge fans. Saw him talking to some Cambridge kids whilst warming up too. Nice guy.

As always, feel free to disagree

Judd was superb again. A massive improvement on Ling. But he’s let himself down with two silly decisions. The second one wouldn’t have been a yellow if they hadn’t already gone down to 10.

Angol was brilliant again, too. But he can’t be expected to do it all on his own.

Blimey, what is it? One says Judd was ropey, kicking all over the place, another says he was 'superb!'

I’m right. Bags of energy, aggressive, a really really good first half.

Spoilt it with one of his dive ins - you could see he wasn’t going to win it - then a silly pull back after losing the ball on the edge of their box.

You know he’ll get punished by the club for it, which is a real shame. He needs game time so he can get more experience and learn not to make these mistakes.

Also consider that the OP didn’t even realise Wilkinson wasn’t playing. That tells you all you need to know.

I thought differing opinions had been outlawed on here.

It tells you that the OP is human and makes typos.

And Judds kicking was all over the place.

Maybe so.

It’s just my opinion. People are welcome to challenge it.

Which bits in particular do you not agree with?

To be fair, Judd didn’t find Wilkinson once all game.

Maybe that’s why he kept booting it into the stands. He was trying to pick out Wilko!

By the way, having seen the incident close up in the highlights his sending off was ludicrous. The club have to appeal that, if they can.

Can’t appeal a yellow, unfortunately.

Even if it leads to a red?

That’s a silly rule.

I'm not actually surprised he got booked for that second one. Yes it's a pretty lame way to get sent off but he does rather cynically foul the guy to stop a breakaway, usually you take a booking on the chin for that. The fact he did it when already on a yellow not the brightest idea.

Not on the edge of the oppositions penalty box, you don't.

Still a silly decision. But then he's a kid who has had his game time restricted needlessly, so its not surprising.

Sounds like a reasonable game, watched the highlights, shame I missed it, went to Albion Rovers v Annan instead, good win for Rovers.

Judd was very poor again I'm afraid. His one asset, his aggression, is his biggest weakness as of he gets beatej to the punch, he's in big trouble.

His sending off was the result of stupidly trying to take on their defenders when he could have played a simple ball back inside.

Sargent - 9 - couple of good saves second half

Turley - 7. Good movement for the goal, gave away the pen, apart from that defence looks far more solid with him

Marvin- 7. Looks far more at home with Turley

Happe - 7. Solid reliable, also covers across well when one of the CB's gets caught

Judd - 6. Said last week he plays like he has had too many lucozades and gets caught being too eager, i think his energy going forward is a lot better than Ling's though, he actually wants to go forward, strech the pitch, try crosses

Marsh - 6 - solid enough, stupid booking

JMD. 8 - Honestly don't get how he doesn't start every game, only player in the squad who can do certain things, free kick for the first goal, brillant goal from the other free kick and went close as well when cutting in at one point, he needs to be on the pitch for his quality of crosses and he can pinch the odd goal

Wright - 7. Solid performance

Clay - 6. Same as Wright really, solid

Brophy - 6 - Thought he stretched the pitch well and his pace kept the defender back,

Angol - 6.5 - Worked hard up front, had a great chance to score, just needs to show a bit more of a goal instinct, few chances last few games you would expect a striker to steal a goal

Subs.

Harold -7. Came on held the ball up

Kyprianou - 5. Played a delightful ball to Cray

Coulson - n/a. Came on as defensive reenforcment

I would duck Judd a couple of points for getting sent off , totally unnecessary and unprofessional.
