Ratings v Oldham
Sergeant - 5. No chance with the goal. Didn’t do much wrong, but then again didn’t have much else to do
Widdowson - 6. Goal came from a break down his side, not entirely sure if it was his fault. Otherwise, ok.
Happe - 7. Solid. Composed.
Turley - 7. Bit of a bruiser. Had their striker on his ars*e a few times. I’d have him over Coulson at the momentum
Ling. 5. Not as terrible as some make out, but not league 2 standard. Never runs or passes forward. Looks weak whilst defending
Marsh. 6. Ok. There’s no way this guy will break into the Spurs first team
Kyprianou. 7. Nothing spectacular but certainly didn’t look out of place in the first team, which is promising considering it was his league debut
Wright. 5. Anonymous
Maguire-Drew. 6. Didn’t really see the goal clearly. Think it was a tap in. A load of misplaced passes and some proper dodgy crossing
Angol. 5. Did nothing, but then again he was being played completely out of position. I think. Couldn’t really tell what the formation was up front. Whatever it was, it didn’t work.
Wilkinson. 6. Some flashes when the ball was at his feet. Similar to Angol in that his role in this line up really wasn’t clear.
Subs
Harold - 5. Head on a stick. Did nothing.
Brophy - 6. Some promising runs. No end product.
Dayton - 5. No time to make any impact
1-1 a fair result for a match between two poor sides. On the day I’ll take the point. In the long run it’s a bad result because it just adds an extra week to the “we’ll just leave the interim head coach in charge until it really goes tits up” strategy.
It seems we are wilfully strolling into a survival dog fight.Oldham really were a bad team. And we looked their equal.

Re: Ratings v Oldham
Arguably I could bump everyone up by one, but it really was a poor game of football.
Agree that Turley was MOTM

Wright didn’t have a good game. Anonymous.
Turley or Happe as MOTM for me, yeah prob give it to Turls as Happe arguably at fault for the goal.
But Hector was the one who most impressed me. He’s gonna be some player, very soon as well.

Re: Ratings v Oldham
Not as cold as it was when I've previously been to this godforsaken place. Agree that Turley and Kyprianou had standout games and Sergeant has earned himself a run in the side. Poor management though as we were set up all wrong. A strong midfield and Wilkinson/Angol upfront should have enabled us to dominate but Embleton was overcautious which enabled a poor Oldham team to dominate. If this is our level, I'm worried, but I think we are better than this and with a manager with more tactical nous we could achieve a solid mid-table position to build on for next season.

We haven’t got a strong midfield, though.
An 18 year old kid has come in to make his debut and arguably given the best midfield performance of anyone all season.

Re: Ratings v Oldham
Really looking forward to seeing Kyprianou get his home league debut next week against Bradford.
Maybe it’s the “Carl Fletcher” effect that’s led to a definite change of thinking in giving players like Hector a chance.
Sam Sergeant is another who has deserved a chance, and hopefully Ruel Sotiriou will get some game time soon.
Hopefully Fletchers brief time in E10 might have done some good in that maybe Embleton is thinking that some of his ideas weren’t so bad after all.
The dropping of Coulson and Brill is maybe something that Fletcher wanted to do ??
January is certainly looking like it’s going to be a very important time for our Football Club.

Re: Ratings v Oldham
Angol ends up playing out wide due to this 4 3 3 formation. You need a formation with him and Wilkinson both up front, or one of the midfielders to be prepared to move out wide to allow Angol to come inside when attacking at times.

Well done to Turley for motm, but I still say he's better at full back than centre back. He will get caught out easily by a nippy centre forward as he lacks mobility.

Re: Ratings v Oldham
To be fair to Angol - He did set up the goal and travelled up seperately than the rest of the team after he was ill - He was on the 8.40am to Manchester out of Euston yesterday (Saw him waiting for the train at Euston), so he'd had to have got up early as well to make sure he got it.Huxley wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 7:28 pm Sergeant - 5. Happe was also lucky to stay on the pitch clear foul on the Oldham player in the second half and he was the last man
Lucky to get away with a yellow

It’s called a live stream so yes I saw the incident very clearly actually more clearer than you as you would of been in the opposite end of the ground yes?
Dulcet and his co commentator said Happe was lucky not to walk
Also the tug on the shirt by Marsh was totally stupid almost cost us the game thank god for goalposts
Now please go hassle someone else I’m sure you where warned to wind your neck in

Re: Ratings v Oldham
Smen, maybe you should think a little bit more before posting your snappy reply.
A full back is not in such a pivotal position as a central defender. Should he get the slip from a nippy winger the danger of conceding a goal is never as great if the same thing happens to a central defender.
Like I say the central defender is pivotal to the defence.

The irony level of your telling somebody else to stop hassling other users is off the scale. It’s literally all you do. All Of your latest posts are you trying to wind other users up. In fact, the only where were you aren’t is in response to Spen, who you’ve suddenly started replying too after being told that it’s blowing your cover.Lucky7 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 10:50 am It’s called a live stream so yes I saw the incident very clearly actually more clearer than you as you would of been in the opposite end of the ground yes?

You are right though. Couldn’t see the incident properly from away end but thought it was odd the ref would book him rather than send him off if he were the last man.

Agreed, centre half is more important than full back. Which is why Turley should be starting there alongside Happe. Our best 2 at the moment.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 10:51 am Smen, maybe you should think a little bit more before posting your snappy reply.

No need for abuse. I haven't claimed to be an educated person. Indeed I wouldn't know what the benchmark is to be educated.
I awarded the points on the basis of what I saw the individuals do
