There is no real debate on here about party politics.

Everybody has got their entrenched position and won't accept there is anything wrong with their sides views.

For that reason, I am not going to continue any of the party political threads I have been involved in and am going to stay out of it until the polls close next Thursday.

It seems a waste of your time and mine for us to simply post dogma when there is no debate and no one is going to be influenced.

Why start a new thread? Well it seemed easier than posting on every thread on party political issues.

Good luck to everyone's candidates and in spirit of 80s education policy - remember everyone is a winner and there are no losers




PS I have submitted my vote already, so no point trying to change my mind. I am sure my vote for Screaming Lord Sutch will be significant

I think you misunderstand the purpose of political debate here (and probably elsewhere, for that matter), Spenny.

Those with entrenched views wont be changing their minds, and they are always the ones shouting the loudest, but many lurkers and undecideds wont have made a decision yet, and it is that large group that can be influenced.

I don’t make too many comments in the politics threads or engage in overheated slanging matches with those with different views for that reason, but when I do pipe up I hope I can help others look beyond the headline propaganda and empty slogans.

Reading most of the posts on here have just reinforced my decision to stay in next Thursday.

No one died to force people to vote.

Who has called for any threads to be stopped?

Here’s Spen, on Friday 6th, declaring to the board that he won’t be posting about politics until after the election.

And yet today, tues 10th, he’s starting multiple threads about politics.

Almost as if this thread was just pointless attention seeking....
