Tut tut tut. Tries to suppress a news story about her son. How many more times is this women going to tell you lefties do as i say and not what I do. I think she should resign for bringing her position as shadow home secretary in to disrepute.

Of interest is why police refused him bail & kept him in custody for court on Monday .
The starting position is everyone is entitled to unconditional bail unless one of the exemptions apply...
Substantial grounds to believe he would fail to surrender to bail or
substantial grounds to believe he would commit offences whilst on bail
Or substantial grounds to believe he would interfere with prosecution witnesses are the most common exceptions
......
[I have deleted rest of post re reasons for refusing bail as a result of information I have received. In view of this I dont think it's fair to Diane Abbott or the accused to say more re reasons for refusing bail]

Maybe.
Having clicked on the link I was surprised and amazed at how far right the headlines leaned. Thought I'd go and see what the online guardian was saying and it was far more modest/balanced.

Not sure there is more to say
Her son was arrested for 3 offences, charged, refused bail by the police and bailed on Monday by the courts
Not much to spin, but would be interested to link to Guardian version of story

Thought you were all about defending the good name of the accused until they have been convicted? Or does that only apply to those accused of noncing?
Very peculiar set of principles you have there.

I read two accounts of assault by beating (the article said he was aledegly biting the police officers concerned) and 1 account under section 4 which is almost certain to be threatening behaviour.
Not sure Spen what stops you from saying what I’ve said?

It puts a different spin on Ms Abbotts opposition to the use by police of sput hoods, when her son is alleged to have chosen to spit at a police officer

He's innocent until proven guilty. And let's be honest it won't be the first time the Met have brought ludicrous and trumped up charges against an innocent man. They've got form.

You are usually the first to say 'innocent until proven guilty',
cant think why you arent taking that stance this time.

Erm at no point have I said or even suggested he is guilty.
Diane Abbotts son has however been charged with 3 offences , 2 of which are assaults on Emergency Workers.
It could be rather embarrassing for a future Home Secretary and responsible for the police, that her son is accused of assaulting the police , including by spitting at them, when she has spoken out against police using spit hoods.
Stop making things up I gave never said Dianne Abbotts son is guilty.

I think you will find the met police achieve a conviction rate of in excess of 90% of cases charged

Which only proves my point. Who else has such high conviction rates outside China.

Abbott won't get the gig if Labour are elected but given some of the things our current Home Secretary has been up to, not to mention her attitude towards people in need, I know who I would choose.
