Justice Must Not Only Be Done, But Seen To Be Done

That's a maxim that comes from the case of
R v Sussex Justices, ex parte McCarthy ([1924] 1 KB 256, [1923] All ER Rep 233)
So, I am not sure how this case fits with that
https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/no ... g-17338376
A police officer is convicted of criminal offences by a Magistrates Court whilst on duty. ( He is not dismissed by the Police Force) but his name is not allowed to be reported.
If it were anyone else ( 18 or over) , there would be no order preventing their being named.
This does seem a case of justice not being seen to be done

This has nothing to do with justice, or justice being seen to be done, it's all about the legal process being followed is't it? Why I even heard a story somewhere about some sleazebag of a lawyer who advised his drugged up driver client to make himself scarce until he "sobered up" before handing himself in. Now that kind of behaviour really gives the legal profession a bad reputation and deservedly so.

Well I'm no legal expert, so Wikipedia probably isn't the best reference work. However, this ruling relates to a fair outcome of a trial by ensuring no-one with a relationship to the accused having a part in the decision. I don't think you're claiming that is the case and he was found guilty, so I don't think it's an issue.
He probably wasn't named because a police officer couldn't do his job properly if he's publicly known to be a lawbreaker himself.
The question here is why the force want to keep him on when it was them that prosecuted him.
Part of the new 20,000 presumably

Did you honestly set up that thread just so that you can link to it every time somebody, rightly, mocks you?

Well this is a timely thread. I'm on jury duty today at Paisley Sheriff Court. Last time I was here it cost me 50 big ones.
I believe local justice works along the lines of Paisleys guilty. Johnstones innocent.

Oops I meant suit. I blame autocorrect. I will be the foreman because I will throw in Spen666's name as leverage plus I've made the effort to wear a suit and have polished my shoes.

You’ll probably be spending plenty of time twiddling your thumbs because the prosecution brief will see your suit, assume you are a hang em & flog em Kipper type, and swerve you when picking the jury.
I hope you’ve got a good book with you.

Oh I see an attempted witicism based on the ancient comedic premise of a misunderstanding. Brilliant you should get over to Thors let's all Have a laugh at old stuff again thread.
Anyways I'm back in Court today. Security is high but they missed the geezer outside the court having some wacky baccy to settle his pre trial nerves.

For a man of assumed intellect, Sphincter666 seems unable to discern between 'there' and their' when concocting his micro-lectures on law and order

Back at the Sherriff Court this morning and sitting next to the man who played "fives" with Jose Quintongo last week. The ex footballer who used the C word on Radio.
On my other side is a Paisley Jaikie still reeking of last night's Tenants Lager and Buckfast.
They are having a trial today it seems so might get called. Hope not.

Dear God. The two grannies across from me are talking about the fact their dogs have small dog syndrome and referring to them like they are their kids. This place is a bloody mad house.

Its getting worser. They are exchanging photos of their dogs. One of them getting his tummy scratched.
