It was horrible to see an old chap repeatedly hit by a steamroller.

Andrew Neill destroyed Jeremy Corbyn tonight, like he did to Nicola Sturgeon last night.

Cant wait for the rest of the leaders to be interviewed by him

He didn't destroy Sturgeon. He was just hectoring and rude and never let her answer the questions.

Didn't see Corbs"""yyy but if he didn't perform well then Boris will be reduced to a trembling blustering turd .

Sturgeon got a roasting. Sure she fought back and fair play, but he made her policies look a little ill thought through and her an average performer.

Boris will be a car crash.

Corbyn is terrible at not answering the question. If he's going for this 'different kind of politician' thing he meeds to make a start.

It was excruciating watching him avoid answering how he would pay for the WASPI issue. The annoying thing was that he ended up saying it later.

Watching it now on catchup. Being ripped apart on anti-semitism. All statements, no content. Makes things clear, takes f*** all real action. Shallow.

On Brexit now.. Andrew Neil for leader. Corbyn an utter shambles. Trying to divert, not being allowed to. Being pinned down, no credible answers.

People earning under £80k,will pay more tax. Corbyn being devious, being caught out.

No idea what share high earners pay, 50% but what ever it mattered s it’s not enough. 31,000 people, only takes a few to piss off and thebplan crumbles. Keeps going on the rhetoric, trying to divert the focus.

The Corbyn Credit card. Classic. Debt and interest no matter how you dress it up.

Neil is fantastic. He accepts the cases, the moral age pensions debt stuff etc. wants details how it will be paid. Borrowing admitted again.

Now being taken apart on our security. What a f*cking whimp.

Andrew Neil. Thank you Mr Corbyn, people will make up Thor own minds.

Yup. All rhetoric no substance. All sound bites no f*cking clue.

He was embarrassing. Sturgeon got a rough ride but at least she came out fighting. Corbyn was a shambles. And that’s being kind. All sound bites, no substance. What a joke.

I watched the interview.
I ended up feeling quite embarrassed that the BBC deems this to be cutting edge political interviewing.

Neil had a very narrow agenda, just around the usual anti Labour diatribes. Neil was not seeking 'information' or elucidation on Labour's manifesto. His conclusion was already set from the moment he started to ask questions.
This country is now on a dangerous path when the supposed state broadcaster is not even attempting to provide facts in an objective manner.

Are people aware that the BBC broadcast of the Armistice wreath laying at the Cenotaph in 2019 actually showed Johnson's wreath laying photoshopped from a previous year? The real pictures from his performance in 2019 showed him as being unaware and out of step with the correct procedure and raised questions about whether he was drunk!!! He stepped forward too soon and laid the wreath upside down.

Just think about that for a moment, if you can.

And add that to the BBC manipulating the recording of the debate Johnson v. Corbyn when the BBC cut out the audience's derision and laughter at Johnson's response to a question about 'the importance of honesty in politics for party leaders'.

Just ask yourself: why would they do such a thing?

Jeremy Corbyn’s interview with Andrew Neil was so bad it redefined the genre
https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/je ... 19226.html

We would learn that Jeremy Corbyn’s going to find fully £60bn to repay the Waspi women that’s not in his manifesto costings...... but it’s a moral debt Andrew Andrew it’s a moral debt can I finish........... but where’s the money............ can I finish we have to pay them can I finish with what there’s the reserves ........but the reserves haven’t got £60bn in them........... no they haven’t can I finish we will have to borrow it....... so you will be raising borrowing...... no I won’t .......yes I will..... can I finish can I finish?

If it was a boxing match, Corbyn would have been carried out of the ring, knocked out in the first round and the hilarious non answers for the £60 Billion to be found for the Waspi women ''pay it out of the nations reserves''.....but slight problem.....we have not got £60 Billion in the national reserves !! Corbyn eventually reluctantly agreed. All in all, Corbyn and his Labour party, have champagne tastes with lemonade money !

Corbyn didn’t refuse to answer anything, he refused to get drawn into Andrew Neil’s pathetic attempt at interviewing.

He said it would come from national reserves and borrowing. It’s money the government stole from them, so it doesn’t matter how they get it back. They deserve it back. This Tory government have borrowed a lot more than Labour have, so spare me the money tree bollocks.

As for the anti-semitism stuff. Andrew Neil was trying to get him to do something he’s said many times before. Even if Corbyn had apologised, would the chief Rabbi have accepted it? Probably not. Would the section of Jewish people in this country who have an issue with Corbyn/LP accept it? Probably not.

Did Andrew Neil apologise for Rod Liddle’s poo poo? No.

I look forward to the reaction of the thick racists that have posted in this thread to the Islamaphobia stuff that Boris Johnson will get in his turn. I bet it won’t be the same.

Well, we now know that this Chief Rabbi has a party political agenda. He is a Tory.
It is quite sad that the mass media does not even acknowledge or give credence to the many people of Jewish faith who do not share that man's political affiliation.

What a beacon of civility this country has become! Not ….

If you have such a problem with Europeans :Did you viciously object to players such as Walschaerts and other Europeans playing for Orient?
if not, why not???

Well, there's two possibilities.

Either, there are some people working at the BBC who maybe aren't paying as much attention as they should be to what they're doing

or

It's all a big conspiracy, the BBC is massively anti-Corbyn, and the absolute best way they can sabotage the election is to play a Cenotaph clip from a couple of years ago and edit out some laughing. Yep. It's definitely that one.

The reality is that the lowest paid will disproportionately be paying higher taxes than the high earners. Good old labour standing up for the little person.

Why is anyone surprised by Neill’s style? Brillo Pad has always been like this. His hectoring “technique” is designed to make him the star of the show. He did it to Sturgeon, Corbyn and he’ll do the same to Johnson.

But that is the point of his interviews and why they are so damned good. He avoids the why, accepting what Corbyn said, just focused on the how. This removes the party political speeches and gets to the detail. All politicians are good at spouting off the sound bite stuff. The test is can they back it up when challenged on the reality. Why? Because should they get into power the sound bites mean naff all but their actions mean everything.

Corbyn failed like a wimp, Sturgeon put up a fight, but failed.

These are our leaders, they should be tested and AN is able to do just that.

I didn’t watch it - I generally avoid these setpiece TV debates and grillings. But we all know Neill’s schtick as a street brawler, so I’m not surprised to hear Corbyn & Sturgeon took a few hefty jabs. Let’s see if Swinson & Johnson get the same treatment from him. They probably will, tbh, and although it might make for ok gladiatorial tv as policies are robustly challenged, it only really appeals to those viewers who like to see politicians squirm and flounder under assault.

On average, BBC news announcers and current affairs programmes lean to the left and are pro remain, for many years now, the audiences in Question time have been overloaded with those who have with left wing views and in recent times, many more who support remain in the audience than those who wish to leave the EU. The selected panel are much the same, with sometimes four remain onto one leaver !
As to Andrew Neil being hard on Corbyn and Sturgeon, well guaranteed that he will be EVERY bit as hard and relentless when it comes to Jo Swinson and Boris Johnson, that is his job and he does it well !

And that is the beauty of it. These top ranking politicians think they are armour plated, but when someone like Andrew Neil
interrogates them they all seem to buckle under the weight of direct questioning, no matter how many times they try to shuffle
round a direct answer.

Well said Sid. Neil is excellent at his job, I'd have loved him to do question time there would be no messing around with him in charge.
