I used to work in the Banking business and all the economists I had to listen to had 20/20 hindsight and a ready-made excuse as to why they were wrong. If you laid every economist in the world end to end you would never reach a conclusion.

Quite a few did but they were ignored by rapacious capitalists and politicians too busy making money to listen to common sense.

Gordon Brown even said he had brought the cycle of boom and bust endemic within capitalism to an end. What a walloper.

Yeah I remember that one, I think we all do! Still again if you look back through history successive governments failed to regulate the banking sector correctly. Eventually labour got burnt by it.

But if you regulate before the crisis you're accused of being anti-business. Oh, and the devil.

Perhaps they're left leaning because they're economists?

Economists are generally wrong with their predictions and then re-write history.
