He used to be alright, as far as I can remember but he's been awful since he started struggling with his cognitive dissonance. he obviously sees himself as reasonable and moderate and its been tough for him facing up to the fact that he's actually a pretty turgid reactionary.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 6:26 pm Needs to step down from the Board. Quite right too Rich. I used to be alright but been on this forum far too long. But thanks, it’s been years since I’ve bee accused of being reactionary.Eat The Rich wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 6:44 pmHe used to be alright, as far as I can remember but he's been awful since he started struggling with his cognitive dissonance. he obviously sees himself as reasonable and moderate and its been tough for him facing up to the fact that he's actually a pretty turgid reactionary.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 6:26 pm Needs to step down from the Board. It's unlike you to sell yourself short, Prez. You can be way more rubbish than everyone else, as well you know.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 6:49 pmQuite right too Rich. And I also agree with Max. Terrible Boarder. You know what they say, if you can’t beat em, join em. I can be as rubbish as everyone else.
It’s better to be recognised than ignored. Not one to hide my light etc. But yes, it’s a struggle sometimes to be more rubbish. But I try.StillSpike wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 6:54 pmIt's unlike you to sell yourself short, Prez. And it helped me no end in my career. My success rate at interviews for jobs that I wanted was near 100%. I got noticed, I got remembered and I got the job.
How near to 100%? It's an impressive if wholly unbelievable hit rate.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 7:23 pmAnd it helped me no end in my career. My success rate at interviews for jobs that I wanted was near 100%. I got noticed, I got remembered and I got the job.
And yes, I know I can be irritating but on the other hand I rarely get upset by the insults of others, sometimes I get even and that’s fair enough, but rarely upset. I can give it and take it.

What was the one major reason why you were rembered during the interview process?dOh Nut wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 7:23 pmAnd it helped me no end in my career. My success rate at interviews for jobs that I wanted was near 100%. I got noticed, I got remembered and I got the job.

The most obvious was research, no internet. For example a clothing company, my first senior role, simple stuff. I studied the ranges in the shops, where they were made, price bands, range names, fabrics, colour names etc. Plus of course the usual company finance stuff, everybody did this. At the interview I was able to talk to them about their product, manufacturing based on sourcing, outlets, etc. You get the picture. Based on this the “have you got any questions for us” line I was able to explore how my specialst knowledge, IT, could help develop the business, improve sales, reduce costs, improve efficiency, with of course ideas already in my head. Didn’t matter if my ideas would run or not, but I was thinking. Before I left the interview I was well ahead of my competition and knew damn well in the final reckoning I would be remembered. That was the job I beat 151 other people. The real work started before I walked through the door.
I made a point of trying to always answer the what if scenario, never resorted to the “it’s hard to say” I would challenge the interviewers too, especially the have you got any questions bit. I always prepared and was never shy at asking difficult questions of them. The harder the better, quite often they were nervous too, so a challenge to them got me remembered, hopefully good. I have a challenging approach to the status quo. Interviews to me was alway two way, me interviewing them too. Jeez I must have been an arrogant silly sausage.
I made a habit of applying for jobs I didn’t want to sharpen my interview skills and learn the type of questions I may get. Helped get it right when it mattered.
I was very mercenary, totally focussed and ambitious as hell. What the hell happened to all that energy.
Ain’t that the truth Max. From Mr Involved to Mr don’t give a toss. But f*** me, it was exciting while it lasted. Thing is Max, when it mattered, I succeeded. Fairly relaxed now in my dotage. Happy to leave it to the young guns.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 10:31 pmCould it be you have transferred all of your energy to posting drivel on here?dOh Nut wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 10:25 pmDepended Thor.
