My take on the interview is that he is hurting, and this is purely my opinion. He is hurting cos someone has lost a job in double quick time, he is hurting cos the process had flaws, he is hurting as it’s hurt the football club and to a degree it’s reputation. What I do believe is that the same mistake won’t be repeated, yes they can appoint someone and the person ends up sacked that’s the nature of football, how many managers retire like Fergie did? Some have questioned on here many times why Nigel and Kent do this, where is the return etc. Listen and you will hear Nigel explain that he gets a lot out of it personally. I’ve argued this many times only to be told nah your wrong. Remember, he can only drive one car, wear one watch, fly one plane and live in one house at a time. Owning a football club gives him something he can’t get from any other possession. It’s unique owning a football club, where you look for success, where you build a community, employee many people, engage with fans in the best game this planet has to offer. As much as he and Kent have been successful in their business lives, you don’t get that kind of engagement with brands or companies. It’s unique and special.
We are blessed with good and decent people as owners and I’m still signed up to them and the club (not that I’d walk away as my family history of supporting the O’s goes back to the 1920’s) along with the journey we are currently on. I’ve seen us win a league for the first time in my life of supporting the O’s, I’ve seen us play at Wembley and the Millenium Stadium although I do wish we’d break that particular duck. We’ve been through an horrendous period this past five months and I’m certain we will come through it together stronger for the experience.

I am sure most agree that Travis is a very genuine man and that without his intervention this club may be dead and buried by now. His interview indicated how disappointed he is that the situation with CF went into free fall in the way that it did and I’m sure that as result the recruitment process will be reviewed and lessons learnt ( e.g not conducting an interview via FaceTime but on a face- to - face basis). Despite this I must admit to being slightly uneasy that NT’s emphasis in the interview around Fletcher’s inability to understand and come to terms with “ the strong culture” within the coaching/ playing staff will mean that what many feel was a major contributory factor to the failure this time round will still not be addressed :- namely that any new man will only be appointed on the understanding that the existing coaching structure must remain intact. As I’ve said before if we want the widest range of applicants to choose from that stipulation should be dropped and if the selected candidate can make a good enough case for bringing in his own assistant(s) then so be it.Thor wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2019 9:37 am

Nigel is a very wealthy fan. It makes complete sense as to why he stepped in when he did. I've never seen or heard anyone question why he took over the club. Never, not once.Thor wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2019 9:37 am

Continuity is important but its not imperative. Embleton and Ross know more about the individual players and their habits and histories than any incoming manager. It could take a new person many months to discover what they need to know. When I was parachuted into a failing or stalling company, I was grateful for the incumbent directors for shortening my learning time and therefore the ability to agree new plans with them.I dont agree with a plan to jettison Ross and Danny for an unproven new manager and his team. Continuity is important.
