Wasn’t it harder to miss out than qualify? The tournament is really now a sham.

So pleased for Wales. They will be unbearable but not as unbearable when it's rugby. It really is a great achievement for such a small country with only 3, 500, 000 population. If it wasn't for being part of the UK and having such a prestigious Premier and EFL they'd simply not have to qualities and opportunities to compete at European finals level. Great to see them on board!

I'll give them some credit when they qualify for a world cup.

Like I said above the euro championships are now a scam as its virtually impossible not to qualify.

24 teams certainly makes it easier to qualify. It always used to be the case when it was 16 teams that winning the Euro's was deemed harder than winning the world cup. Our last 16-team run was France, Sweden and Ukraine (hosts), followed by Italy, who then went on to play Germany and then Spain.
At Euro 2016, Wales managed to get to the final playing Slovakia, England (who they lost to), Russia, Northern Ireland and then Belgium. There has definitely been a dilution of the quality of the competition.

Its not correct to say it always used to be 16 teams.
It was 4 teams from 1960 to the 1976 tournament inclusive
It was 8 teams from 1980 to 1992 inclusive
It only became 16 teams in 1996

Lucky he didn’t say it was always 16 teams then, isn’t it.
