Bring back Russell Slade

You know it makes sense.

Or failing that my previous choice Alan Curbishley, his son supports the club, do it this would be the best decision this club ever made.

So let’s employ another ex fossil who we had 1 ok season with and if we can’t get him let’s get a sons dad in cos he’s a supporter

Makes no sense at all

I remember Slade throwing his dummy out the pram cos Hearn didn’t allow him to speak to whatever club it was and Curbishley? Do you honestly think the club could afford his asking salary

Dizzie Rascal springs to mind

Bonkers!!!

What's Slade ever won. He seems to be the nearly man everywhere he's been.

In this particular case I would support the line taken by Matt Porter.

Always felt Russ should have been offered the gig day 1. The maturity and sensitivity to handle a difficult situation and the experience to move the club forward.

Sure he’s never won anything but given our 3/4 year plan he would have been ideal on a two year deal. Then the club and Slade taking stock.

Still think he is the ideal person given where we are right now

He has the experience and personality we’re crying out for right now. If not Russell give Danny Webb a go. Really, for me at the moment their the only two candidates that can Suits us.

The experience and personality in bucket loads. Who better to steady the ship, to use Lings terms, created solid foundation for us to move forward. Respect of the players, rapport with the fans.

Especially as we are on a four year plan. 2 years of Russ to become a solid L2 club, thereafter Russ and the Board decide on the next stage. Russ has never won promotion but I honestly believe with our current set up he could.

Curbs would be a good choice.

We're not looking for promotion this season ( although I wouldn't say no ) but stability . Russell would definitely give us that . He did it before and I reckon he could do it again . Already knows the club inside out and the backroom staff .Has the experience and personality we're crying out for . Only speaking for myself but I would love Russell back here .

Well Dickinson slaughtered him on the Orient hour, despite the rest of the panel wanting him back. It’s hard to argue his point to be fair which was he’s never been promoted and been sacked at every club he’s been at.

I see him as more than that, a person who could galvanise the team and club and I do believe he would indeed gain promotion with us. Isn’t his record with us decent in that every season we finished higher under him?

The only sensible choice at the moment.

Wasn't sacked by us, one season we got about 7th or 8th in the league obviously we didn't go up, following season we flirted with relegation but didn't go down

Russell managed to build the same team spirit as JE managed to do a few years after him . If anybody could rebuild that at Orient it's Russell . Incidentally , it could be argued the only reason why Russell didn't gain promotion at Orient was because Hearn was too bloody tight when it came to us needing reinforcements at crucial times of the season

Posters here make me laugh. Did a good job at Cardiff who are basically a premier league side and under impossible circumstances and had us playing great football previously but no. Not good enough for orient. Would love him back here. If nothing else he would put a smile on everyone’s face again.

Agree with red dogs accurate posting and also bear dogs call. He’s the man we need.

Still think curbs would absolutely monster this place and could take us all the way to wherever the owners wanted to go to. Let’s face it he don’t need the money he’s very wealthy however, this just could be the last final challenge of his career taking little old Leyton Orient to the premier league which would surpass anything he did at Charlton. It just might be the thing to get his juices flowing once more.

The current regime has employed three (permanent) managers up to now. Steve Davis I thought was a decent call, but it didn’t work out; JE ticked all the boxes of experience and will forever be an O’s legend; Carl Fletcher didn’t tick any boxes and was an unmitigated disaster.

So the lesson here is get someone in with some experience and success at the level we are at, which most of us fans were calling for when RE stepped back anyway. I’s not rocket science after all!

Russell Slade ticked those boxes when he joined us last time, and we could do far worse now. My preference would be Paul Tisdale though.

His arse went a bit in 2013/14, when we switched from all out attack to a more cautious style. Not that I'm criticising the bloke. Also seasons 2010/11, and the second part of 2012/13 were pretty good too.
However, I do believe in never go back.
I can't see he'd dig it anyway. As a Yorkshire-based bloke, I can't imagine he'd be too enamoured with spending the next couple of years in the BR flats, though no doubt we'd offer an increase on his salary at Hereford.
What he does have is the charisma to settle the place, and the club seems in turmoil.

No thank you.
His appointment would leave me as underwhelmed as when Southgate was given the England job
Non winners, just get managers like that and some things never change

I'm a huge fan of Slade, but I don't think he would want to come back, nor do I think it would be the right call.

Gareth Southgate, who delivered England's best tournament performance for 28 years?
