Match winner Ruel Sotiriou on Emirates FA Cup victory

Ruel Sotiriou, feeling happy and wanted whilst playing for Dover on loan. The manager Andy Hessenthaler is old school and talks straightforward simple football with no over complicated tactics, it worked out well on this occasion and Ruel scored a cracking goal, job done. Sometimes it pays to keep the football tactics simple and straightforward.

Yes, and it might have paid to have kept Ruel in E10 yesterday, rather than loaning him out to Dover.
Was this Fletchers decision Sid ??
( Cracking goal wasn’t it )

I think on reflection that due to the shortage of strikers, it would of at least paid to keep Ruel here for the game in the midweek cup game against the Brighton U 21s and depending how he shaped up, a game on Sunday or a place on the subs bench. I mean these so called coaches see these players day in day out, we dont, so strange that James Alabi keeps getting the nod in front of Ruel ? Now when you see Andy Hessenthaler talk here, he praises Ruel for his work in training and obvious to me that he has given Ruel confidence. Andy avoids gobbledygook talk and keeps it simple, obviously Ruel responds more to that sort of message. As to whose decision it was to let him go on loan, who knows, he has been wasting his time at the Os so far this season, so if he is not going to get a game, then it will give him a lift to play where he is wanted. Football is all about confidence, being wanted and especially when young, playing regularly.

I bet a few of us on here wouldn’t mind Hess’ returning in place of Fletcher.

''Hess'' had a hard time when here having to put up with Bechetti as his boss and never being able to do the job as he wanted to, so IMO, we never saw the best of him as a manager. Certainly seems more like a manager than CF. Problem is, would an older guy like Hess, whose been there and got the ''T- Shirt'' want to work with Ling above him when he is most likely more capable than Ling of doing the job, be it Manager or director of football !! Lastly, seems like Ruel is responding to wise old Hess as his manager !!

Was surprised they allowed Ruel Sotiriou to play in F.A cup for Dover, considering our shortage of strikers. If we had progressed he would have been ineligible for selection due to playing for Dover. This probably confirms that he is not close to being considered for the first team. I know he has gained international recognition with Cyprus who are not a major footballing nation but it is still a recognition of his abilities. The way things are going he should be brought back ASAP and involved in matchday squad.

Which is exactly why it was the right decision to loan him out.

I bet Hess really wanted to clock Bechetti when he was on the receiving end of a kick up the backside.....wish he had done so in truth..

Hess showed himself to be a yes man, as did Danny Webb and most of the others. The only ones that didn't stand for Bechettis bullying nonsense were Slade and Edwards.

I'd rather have someone with balls in charge, thank you very much.

Danny Webb resigned? Agreed on Hessenthaler.

I reckon Danny will cover as manager when Fletcher goes at Xmas - unless Ross has a change of heart.

No need for the question mark. He did resign.

The question mark was more to signal my confusion at RedO calling Webb a yes-man.

We shall never know the full stories as to what who said what etc during the time Bechetti was the owner, but I would guess that as an older man, Hess went just along, shrugged his shoulders, kept his mouth shut and took his payoff like most of the others, both before and after he left !

It certainly looked like he did, he had to be held back by the coaching staff when it happened. When he was eventually calmed down a little (not much), as he stormed off towards the tunnel he was shouting "you don't f***ing do that".

So why didn't he resign then?

I'm sympathetic to people who are in an inferior position to their employer in situations like this, but you would think that you would resign after being literally assaulted.

True I think you would. I am not sure how he didn’t lump him one to be honest. I wonder if he complained and was paid a sum of money via an NDA? I’d he did that, then he derserved it as it was totally out of order.

And as a result this happened !!
Leyton Orient president Francesco Beelzebub has been handed a six-match stadium ban and fined 40,000 by the Football Association after being found guilty of violent conduct. The 49-year-old Italian’s punishment is in relation to an incident which occurred immediately after Orient’s 3-2 home win against Portsmouth on Boxing Day when television pictures showed him taking a kick at the club’s assistant boss Andy Hessenthaler on the pitch after the final whistle.

Agree, with Hess, basic football tactics expressed in a way that is easy to understand without lots of errs or umms thrown in !!
Anyway, seems like Ruel got the message loud and clear and I dont suppose he will be in a rush to come back here !

I do. It's interesting because I was reading an article with Webb and came across this quote "With the environment here at the time, I made the choice that, when I was manager, whatever happened, I would throw these youngsters in to give everybody around here a lift". I'm not saying that this definitely confirms that it was Webb's choice, but it is interesting. https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/180241 ... -14s-pros/
