Nothing short of amazing

I stumbled across this today https://www.leytonorient.com/news/2017/ ... ed-players

This was the squad we started pre-season 2017-2018 with:

Tristan Abrahams
Steven Alzate
Michael Clark
Sam Dalby
Charlie Grainger
Myles Judd
Josh Koroma
David Mooney
Henry Ochieng
Aron Pollock
Sam Sargeant

As we know Abrahams, Alzate and Dalby were all sold, and out of the rest only Judd and Koroma were up to scratch. When I look at that it really puts into perspective what the club has achieved this season. Travis, Teague, Ling and Edinburgh should rightly be proud of what they have managed to do with the club in the space of 2 seasons.

That's a very good illustration of just how bad things were. The list most certainly shows just how much was done to turn things around.

Certainly does, especially seeing Dan Happe on the 3rd Year Scholar list.

I thought we'd be in the National League for a generation. The management have performed miracles.

Also when JE came in the squad was in disarray and bound for NL South. How he got it organised well enough to get to where we are now is nothing short of incredible.

The guy will take us further, he’s a winner and is putting that same mentality on the team and the club.

Good to see you are being positive for a change. I knew you would join the rest of us eventually.

👍

There were some that said we could get our way out of the NL with the kids amongst that lot as the nucleus. Judd and Koroma have played the most games out the lot of them. God knows what happened to Abrahams (swallowed up by a bigger system?) but only Alzate and Dalby stand a (small) chance of making it with league clubs and arguably may have fared better staying with us. The best prospect of the lot is still with us. 20 yards or 30 yards.......

Agree it's amazing.

Just for fun I'd go with this line-up
GK- Sargeant and Grainger ( yes two and hope the Ref don't notice )
RB- Judd
LB - Mooney (of course)
CB -Pollock
CB - Clark
Mid - Alzate , Dalby, Ochieng
Att -Abrahams, Koroma

Not too shabby.

We wouldn't need two goalies with Mooney marshalling the defence from left back. Watertight unit.

Mooney had only just signed. Not part of the circus.

Hang on, why isn’t Dan in that list? Anyone else been left out?

Pity he hasn’t transferred that confidence to some fans.
I am sure there are some people who are having sleepless nights worrying we will cock it up.
We have led the table for most of the season and will prove on Saturday we deserve to be CHAMPIONS.

First time I have looked at this thread, an amazing oversight to miss out young Dan Happe from that squad of players.
Quote Wikipedia '' Happe was drafted into the Leyton Orient first team squad in February 2017, and made his debut and his first senior start in the 3–0 league defeat at Cambridge United on 8 April 2017. He signed his first professional contract in October 2017, tying him to Leyton Orient until the end of the 2019–20 season.

To be fair, I thought I'd seen him play in L2 for us, but turns out I hadn't. Presumably the fact he hadn't signed a pro contract is why he's excluded from that list.
