Eggchasing

So, the minnows (and Scotchland :D ) have been sent packing, and the big guns plus the hosts get to battle out the Rugby Union World Cup quarter finals this weekend. England already ahead of the Aussies at HT, plus the big NZ/Ireland game to come in a couple of hours. Would like to see the Irish turn over the Kiwis, but they will do well to knock out the All Blacks.

Saffers look the strongest on the other side of the draw, with Wales being the main threat to them not making the final.

Can’t say I watched much of the group games, but Japan’s done a good job putting on this tournament so far, with decent crowds turning out.

Early Aussie try in the second half, this one is going to be as close as I thought it would.

An NZ defeat later will mean Casa Joe is a bad place to be for a while. It was bad enough after the cricket.

Never underestimate the French at world cup time

Ireland will not reach a semi final Again.
Stupid decision to play for touch instead of taking points from the kick , showed disrespect to Japan & were punished for doing so & ended up in the wrong QF..

Dont write the Japenese off yet.

Remember they beat S.Africa 4 years ago at the amex stadium.

England should reach tje final at the very least with the playeds they have available , but winning it could be 1 step to far

Good call there PJ.

Australia suffer their heaviest ever World Cup defeat.

Good to see the ref telling the TMO that they were basically talking crap for that disallowed Aussie try.

Love seeing Cheika the Aussie coach after we beat them, he usually bleats about the referee or England's tactics being borderline legal.

Perhaps today he might just admit they were beaten by a better team.

A legal professional worth their salt would note that I didn't specify whether I thought it'd be tight or a blowout.

Not worth nitpicking or getting wound up PJ, you predicted well we won and that's all that counts

Poor comment. The Kiwis are good but not unbeatable, Australia beat them recently. Ireland also lost to Japan so they were hardly an in form side.

The Bledisloe cup was a 1-1 draw

Aussies won the 1st match
47-26 1st match
New Zeland won the return
36-0 .

With all due respect Ireland were ranked number 1 seeds. in the world at the start of the tournament.
New Zeland are the power in Rugby Union.

They will beat most teams 18 out of 20 .

England & Australia will win 1 out of 10 .

In a world cup now , it is all that matters.
To win.

Schools, teachers, clubs .

England have a chance of course.

But i dont think they are good enough.

It will need New Zeland to have a bad day for England to win.

Just like it needed the same for Ireland.

New zeland took stick for years for having only won 1 world cup & it was on there patch.

That changed 2 world cup victories ago.

Nothing else matters.

No doubt you will be the first to gloat on here if England get beaten, you certainly know how to take the gloss off what was a good day for us.

I think England are the Only team that has any chance of beating New Zeland at a world cup
France occasionally can & south africa if They have a good side which is evefy 10 years or so.

If England win, it will be more impressive than winning in australia with johhny Wilkinson & co.

New zeland are simply the Greatest Country to play Rugby Union .
As i said look at their school systems

They start feeding there kids specific diets from about 12 .

You know how when the world cup ( RU ) is the same age as Fifas

New zeland will have one 75 % of the tournaments won.
Good job it didnt start until the 80s.

Shows you how good i think England can be if i think they are the only country that will potentially challenge them every tournament.

The way France continually implode is an absolute thing of wonder.

Wales were below par today, France played the better game until the stupid but deserved red card did for them. There’ll be some regrets & recriminations in the French camp after that.

Four predictable winners from the quarter finals.
The semis should be much more interesting.
