Take this scenario:

You are a divorced/ single adult

Your parent/ parents are still alive and in good health

You have an adult child
Who would you put as your next of kin....your parent(s) or your child?

There are no right and wrong answers. Would your answer vary depending on what the form was? EG if related to pension would you put your adult child, but if it related to say medical emergency you would put your parent(s)

When I came back to the land of the living after my cardiac arrest last year, I was amazed that they had my ex-wife as next of kin. This was despite the fact that I had informed my GP's that my friend was my de facto next of kin. I have two elderly brothers, but nominated my friend, as me croaking would have been too much for them to deal with. Fortunately it was fairly easily sorted and I am still fairly friendly with my ex. But whilst wired up and having tubes everywhere, she was the last person I needed.

An 'adult child' is legally impossible. Therefore your post is null and void.

If you've got adult kids and your parents are still alive then the parents are probably going to be ancient.

Not sure that the reality isn't different on this Board though?

Nor really child say 20
You are 36
Your parents are 53

Not an age many people would consider ancient!

It's not a legal question. Its who you would put down on a form

Look at first response from West Side Story for an example of situation that can arise
