Wimbledon (Non) Ratings
Such a bloody awful performance that I can't be bothered writing numbers next to individual players. On paper, for a second team in a crappy competition, it looked a strong team (with the honorable exception of Alabi) that wouldn't have played together before. Probably should have been in the lead at half time but deserved to be at least three down at full time to a poor Wombles team.
Sergeant - gave a good impression of a 2nd choice L2 keeper
Ogie - took on more players in one fifteen minute spell than Widdowson has all season. Unfortunately by that point he was already liable for their first goal and taking on players isn't the same as beating them and taking them on in your own half when you're the last line of defence isn't very clever either
Happe - my MoM but note he is a defender in a team that just lost 3-0
Ekpiteta - all the composure that he built up last season has been replaced by a tactic of ragging the player he's marking and hoping the ref doesn't see and if he does see hoping he doesn't see it if its in the box
Judd - looks like a player who knows he's going to be dropped the moment Ling Jnr reaches 50% fitness
Maguire-Drew - took the evening off
Dayton - started well and will be his old self in a few games - a rare positive from this game
Gorman - decided he was the "senior" player on the pitch so wrote the songs, played the songs and sung the songs - all very badly. Realised towards the end that he hadn't picked up his obligatory yellow card so tried to wrench the head off their winger
Marsh - can't really play as a one man midfielder so struggled
Alabi - brilliant run for Dennis's easy (non) tap in. After that we saw the full range of his skills at not being able to control the ball, not being able to stand up and ultimately not being able to play football
Dennis - his miss reminded me of his brilliant "assist" for M-G against Mansfield, deftly pulling it back from the goal line so it could hit M-G's ankle and go in. Today he was bloody, bloody awful.

Can't disagree with any of that.
There must be an agreed penalty taker and a backup, and those players must practice penalties over and over. I could see from the wrong end the side he was going to put it, and I wasn't the only one.

Re: Wimbledon (Non) Ratings
This post is quite a puzzle. Wasn't at the game but have just read the match report and it seemed we had a number of chances, a disallowed goal and missed a penalty. Was following the game last night and we had more possession, shots, corners and free kicks than Wimbledon. Given they had almost a full league one team out which included 2 experienced strikers were we really so bad?

Re: Wimbledon (Non) Ratings
I doubt it, but we didn’t win 5-0 so I guess people will moan. I prefer to listen to the Ross post match thoughts, for sure will have some bias to it but he’s generally pretty honest. And of course he was there.Harlow wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 9:41 am This post is quite a puzzle. Re: Wimbledon (Non) Ratings
Just listened to Ross's interview, pretty much sums up what I said. Harlow, the penalty was when we were 2-0 down and the disallowed goal was the last kick of the game and yes we were that bad.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 9:52 amI doubt it, but we didn’t win 5-0 so I guess people will moan. Re: Wimbledon (Non) Ratings
TBH there were plenty of games where we had less shots, corners, possession etc and managed a point or three in the past but if you were to be downbeat people would be adamant that it is the result that counts in the end.
I think these stats don't tell the full story anyway. We were losing from basically the first minute, which would give rise to a situation where we would have to attack and they did not.
I think the penalty was quite soft, but the two goals conceded in the second half were very disappointing, both a case of nobody picking up the man once the ball was played.
Don't really care about this competition but just underscores the need that the next manager has to be a good defensive coach, it is a glaring weakness.

And yes we were quite bad.
I do like the idea that someone who picks the team and gets paid by the club might be less biased than a supporter who's seen more matches than John Sitton's had hot dinners.

Re: Wimbledon (Non) Ratings
The reasonable first half, pretty poor second half, bizarrely if you look at the stats you would've never guessed 3-0 and probably thought Orient would win, ie the number of shots, posssesion
From watching the stream
Sarge- 2 - Very soft goals, he got praised for a double save at one point, I thought he should've held it/pushed it off in the first place
Judd- 2 - Nothing really
Ekpiteta- 4- The movement of the better strikers in this league is causing him issues
Happe- 4- He looks the most solid CB at this level
Ogie- 4- Gave away the pen apart from that meh
Dayton- 4- More an appearance to get fit
Gorman- 5- Tried to grab the game by the scruff of the neck but not good enough to do it, not poor by any means
Marsh- 4- Didn't realize he was playing
JMD- 5 - Very, very quiet, then won a penalty, football eh
Dennis- 2- Not a striker, he is a winger, he can't hold the ball up, hasn't got the natural striker movement and play and finishing, he needs to be running one on one at full backs
Alabi- 4- Worked hard at times but like playing with 10 men
//
Sweeney- 4- Didn't look a defender, looked like he want to bomb forward
Coulson- 4- Got done for pace on the 3rd goal
Brophy- 4- meh

Re: Wimbledon (Non) Ratings
Poor penalty to give away, poor miss from 2 yards, poor keeping, poor penalty by Gorman, poor defending for the third.
Other than that, well according to reports we did OK.
If our new manager was watching that then he will have nightmares.

Maybe with a new manager coming in the second string players didn't feel the need to impress RE. Hope for their sakes the new man wasn't in the crowd.
